“This series of work explores my love of the New Zealand landscape, especially that of Central Otago and the Mackenzie Country. Works in the exhibition are divided between both realistic landscapes and also abstract works which explore surface and texture. An integral aspect of the works is the use of gold leaf combined with mixed media and rust like finishes. This is to pay tribute to both the endurance of the land and at the same time to acknowledge its fragility.
This exhibition is the third in a series of recent solo shows. The first, ‘Elemental’ was held at Artspost in Hamilton, the second ‘Alchemy’, at the Wallace Gallery. This, the third in the series, is titled ‘Gold Pieces’ and can be seen at The Incubator Gallery. All three exhibitions explore the land and the forces that shaped it.”
