Some of Tauranga’s leading improvising musicians will be creating an entire set for your listening pleasure. Stay tuned for future Imaginary bands.
Imaginary Band is a pop-up event that will be run at Tauranga’s Jam Factory . The Project was initiated and coordinated by Tristan Hancock and be in partnership with the Incubator Creative Hub. The purpose of the project is open Tauranga to a wider arrange of music and encourage local musicians to take creative risks. The project is in part influenced by Start-Up culture which encourages iteration, experimentation, and audience feedback as part of design process.
Often the economic barriers in the hospitality industry prevent musical artists from pursuing creative projects which can in turn lead towards homogeneity. During the lockdowns of the last two years these pressures have become even stronger. Imaginary Band aims to create local musicians to take risks and create something new and unexpected.
