Create a pair of Poi, learning the origin, whakapapa and waiata of poi.

Age: High School Children/Adults

PLEASE BOOK INTO ONE POI WORKSHOP ONLY, Sunday’s workshop is a repeat of Saturday’s workshop.

As part of the 2020 Tauranga Moana Matariki calendar of events the Incubator Creative Hub is proud to be presenting a series of workshops celebrating Maori artists and their art forms. This series of free workshops or online tutorials have been made available by support from The Tauranga Creative Communities Scheme.

A workshop where you can learn to make your own Kapa Haka Poi. You will be using your own pompom colours. The students will be exploring and learning new Waiata (songs) with the accompanying Poi actions. A chance to look at and understand the origin and whakapapa of Poi.
