Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub & Matariki Tauranga Moana
As these series of free workshop are extremely popular, we would ask you to let us know immediately if you are unable to attend so as to free up the space for someone else on the waiting list. Also please select your one favourite free workshop, to leave the others available for other people. Thank you.

Tākaro Kēmu Workshop: Participate in old-school kēmu – designed to test the brain and co-ordination skills in a family-fun way.
As part of the 2020 Tauranga Moana Matariki calendar of events the Incubator Creative Hub is proud to be presenting a series of workshops celebrating Maori artists and their art forms. This series of free workshops or online tutorials have been made available by support from The Tauranga Creative Communities Scheme.
Māori kēmu are a witty, challenging, fun way to bring the whānau together. The workshop consists of many kēmu that allow participants to relax, have fun and get competitive, all with one purpose in mind: Whakawhanaungatanga or connection to others. These kēmu have been selected specifically for varying groups of people and is open to all ages. Within te ao Maori, connection to others is an important aspect, and I like to explore this through games, laughter and light competition. I believe our rangatahi are more susceptible to opening up to others if there is a common goal, light-hearted banter and games, and I wish to share a few of what I have learnt with the hope that it achieves two things: Connection and for others to be able to take these ideas into their own respective mahi or whānau and teach them in these spaces too.
