SUMMARY:Artful Wāhine - Tauranga Girls' College Exhibition 2026
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nArtful Wāhine is an exhibition run by Tauranga Girls’ College art Department. The Exhibition is open to all ākonga and they can create an artwork of their own choosing or submit something they have created at school. It gives ākonga the opportunity to exhibit publicly and perhaps sell their work. It takes courage to show your artwork in a public setting and through this experience ākonga can build their confidence in their own artistic ability. \nThis exhibition is about participation and the opportunity to display their artwork in a safe and supportive environment. The secondary school has a wide range of interests\, which is reflected in the work that is represented in the exhibition. \nThis event not only celebrates the students’ creativity but also provides a platform for the community to support and inspire the budding artists of tomorrow. The students will be on site during the weekends so drop by and give them some encouragement. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday 28th August – 5.30pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Licensed Bar onsite\, and everyone is welcome. \nOn display in The Peoples Gallery Toi Ka Rere from the 29th August to the 1st of August to the 19th of September\, 10am – 3pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Something Human by Mathew Johnson and Ila-Rose Hepetema
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nTheir works provoke\, resist\, and explode\, each piece igniting the next until the gallery becomes a chain reaction of ideas. \nThis is a rare collision of two singular creative forces\, an eclipse that exists for only a fleeting moment before the orbit shifts again. Once these works scatter back into their own trajectories\, this constellation will not gather in quite the same way again. \nThis is an exhibition that does not ask for your attention. It seizes it\, burrows into it\, and leaves carrying a piece of you with it. \nTo create is to let the soul speak. Play. Create. Express. Connect. \nIla-Rose Hepetema\, a Bay of Plenty Māori artist\, brings vibrant energy to every canvas through her stunning oil paintings and portraiture. With a lifelong passion for colour theory and composition\, Ila-Rose’s work celebrates saturation and vibrancy in bold\, captivating ways. After honing her craft studying contemporary Māori art at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa\, she’s now building her career as a professional artist\, taking portrait commissions and creating striking works that reimagine Aotearoa’s fauna with modern kōwhaiwhai. \nMathew Johnson | Abmon Photos is\, by all accounts\, a fountain of creative energy. Initially dabbling in photography as a means to create raw material for digital art\, his camera quickly became an all-consuming passion. Mathew’s work seeks authenticity as he explores the human experience. Each frame is a cultural snapshot\, a story for us to explore and connect with from our own unique perspectives. Mathew also offers event photography\, written word\, mentoring\, and digital art services\, bringing his creative vision to a variety of projects. His work blends storytelling and artistry to capture meaningful moments and create lasting impressions. \nOn display in The Incubator Gallery and Studios from the 29th to the 19th of September. 10am – 3pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Wairua | Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Maraea Timutimu and Tania Lewis-Rickard\nWairua\nOpening Thursday 10th September 2026\, 5.30pm\n117 Willow Street\, Tauranga Moana \nWairua brings together the practices of Maraea Timutimu and Tania Lewis-Rickard through an exploration of kōkōwai as a shared medium. \nThis exhibition creates a space for experimentation\, allowing each artist to work with the material in ways that reflect their own practice\, ideas and ways of making. \nKōkōwai becomes the point of connection between two artists\, while allowing difference to remain. Through the addition of wai\, the material shifts\, moves and responds\, creating new possibilities. \nIn Tauranga Moana\, where whenua and wai continually meet\, Wairua explores what can emerge when two practices come together—sharing a material\, while remaining distinctly our own. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:New Moon Sound Bath
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nWelcome to The Sound Temple! Come and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple a beautiful belle tent and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting circle and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realize the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nDuring the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we step into the Sound Temple and settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following:  tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nThe benefits of Sound Baths: \n\nDeep Relaxation & Stress Relief: Sound baths calm the nervous system\, lower heart rate\, and reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.\nImproved Sleep: The low-frequency sounds can help improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia.\nMental Clarity & Focus: They can quiet racing thoughts\, improve focus\, and aid in shifting from chaotic to calmer mental states.\nPhysical Healing: Participants often report reduced physical discomfort\, reduced inflammation\, and better circulation.\nEmotional Release: Sound vibrations can help process emotions and offer relief from anxiety or depression.\n\nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe new moon is a time of new beginnings and is perfect for sowing seeds of new intention. \nThe Sound Temple is a no phone zone. Enjoy the connection with others without digital distractions. \nThis is a drug and alcohol free event\, this policy ensures the safety of all guests. Anyone found to be under the influence of substances will be asked to leave and no refund offered. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Mums & Teen Daughters Art Session
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Stacey Moore Artist\nCome along with your teenage daughter and spend some time together doing something a little different. \nThis is a relaxed abstract painting session where you can switch off\, have a chat\, get creative and just enjoy being together. You don’t need to be “arty” or have any painting experience – you’ll learn some simple techniques to encourage you to play with colour\, shapes and texture to create your own beautiful piece of art. \nIt’s also a lovely chance for your daughter to meet and connect with other teens in a relaxed\, creative environment. Sometimes it’s easier to chat and make new connections when you’re doing something together\, without the pressure of having to make conversation. This session is not about getting it “right” or creating a perfect painting. It’s about having fun\, trying something new\, connecting and enjoying some quality time together. \nCome along to relax\, have a laugh\, meet some new people and create something you can both take home. \nPlease note\, these sessions are intended for mothers and daughters (13+) to attend together. Please purchase the number of tickets per person attending. \nFind out more
