Expressions of interest are now being welcomed for a Tauranga laneway design competition organised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects Waikato/Bay of Plenty Branch and Tauranga Groundswell Festival of Innovation.
The Laneway will come to life during the Groundswell Festival (27 August – 2 September) and the NZIA Festival of Architecture (14 – 23 September).
The organisers of Tauranga's Laneway Design Competition are seeking ideas that will temporarily transform a Tauranga laneway into a creative, lively, safe and engaging public area.
The designs should embody the notion of place and community spirit of Tauranga. Designs that employ sustainable design, material innovation and community participation will be favourably regarded.
To inspire thinking, some potential ideas might include:
- Pop-up cafe with music
- Art installations / exhibitions
- Lighting installations
- Digital media installations
If you would like to participate in activating a city laneway, please send an email to email@example.com with the Subject Line: Laneway and a short description of your idea.
