SUMMARY:Threads of Connection | Matariki Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Creative Bay of Plenty | Te Waka Auaha Toi\nThreads of Connection explores the visible and unseen ties that bind people\, stories\, and creative practice. Like woven threads\, these connections move between generations\, communities\, and the natural world. \nFeaturing Guest Artist Darcy Nicholas with new works\, alongside Que Bidois\, Arohanoa Mathews\, Garry Webber\, Alie Henderson\, and Alison Badger\, the exhibition reflects a bicultural exchange grounded in shared knowledge and creative dialogue. \nThreads appear in many forms: fibre and weaving in textiles; line and pattern carved into wood; gesture and layered surfaces in painting. Each carries memory\, process\, and meaning. \nTogether\, the works reveal creativity as fluid and interconnected. Like the winds of Ururangi that signal change and the Māori New Year\, each piece connects artist\, environment\, and community. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Coming Undone - Ceramics by Jo Harris
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nThis exhibition delves into the complex and often conflicting relationship between the inner psychological worlds of women and the roles that society continues to impose upon them. It examines how identity is shaped\, constrained\, and at times fractured by expectations that have been passed down through generations. \nUsing black clay as a primary medium\, the work gives physical form to emotional and psychological states that are often difficult to articulate. The material itself—earthy\, dense\, and unyielding—becomes a metaphor for both the weight of external pressures and the resilience required to endure them. Figurative forms emerge\, embodying tension\, vulnerability\, and strength\, capturing what it can feel like to navigate the space between who one is internally and who one is expected to be. \nThe exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how these pressures manifest in subtle and overt ways\, and how the inner psyche responds\, adapts\, or pushes back. While contexts may shift\, the underlying struggle for autonomy\, self-definition\, and emotional truth remains ongoing.\nJo Harris is an Auckland-based artist whose practice revolves around the theme of the authenticity of self and the masks we wear. A multimedia artist\, Jo employs a range of materials in her work\, including ceramics\, recycled\, and found objects\, creating pieces that transcend traditional mediums. \nJo’s work is deeply invested in the tension between public and private expressions of the human experience. Her art invites viewers to reflect on the masks they wear in their own lives. At the core of Jo’s artistic journey is a search for an authentic space for herself—an endeavour that resonates deeply within her work. It is her hope that through engaging with her art\, viewers will find a connection to their own sense of authenticity. In doing so\, they may gain insight into their personal journeys and reflect on the ways in which art can mirror and expand our understanding of the self. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Drift an Exhibition by Damien Kurth
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nA selection of Damien’s latest works. \nWorking mostly in oils\, Kurth creates incredibly detailed ‘trompe l’oeil’ works that feel like tricks of the eye. He paints everyday objects – a cut crystal glass\, an old jar\, a patterned tin – things we usually overlook as mundane. \nBy placing these objects centre stage\, with no clues about where they are or why they’re there\, their familiarity starts to fade. and they gain an element of mystery and intrigue. Kurth’s commonplace objects possess the ‘seemliness of the unfamiliar’ or ‘Jamais vu’ a term used to describe the experience of being unfamiliar with something that is very familiar. \nThe artist uses a traditional ground gesso\, building the painting’s surface slowly; each stroke of oil working with the other to create a harmonic whole. Delicately painted sheets of paper and masking tape subtly divide the picture plane\, creating a sense of depth\, while fluorescent pink post-it notes punctuate his compositions; drawing the viewer’s eye across the canvas\, achieving an overall sense of balance and harmony. \nDamien Kurth (b.1972 Stratford\, Aotearoa New Zealand) is a contemporary painter residing in the BOP. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from Otago Polytechnic. Kurth’s work is held in numerous collections in NZ Aotearoa and worldwide. He is the winner of the Otago Polytechnic Painting Award\, the Derivan Painting Award\, the Cleveland Art Awards (Highly Commended) and a finalist in the Adam Portraiture Award. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday 5th June\, 5.30pm – 7pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Everyone is welcome. Licensed Bar available. \nOn display at The Incubator Gallery from 6th June to the 27th of June. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Tūrangawaewae - Bethlehem College Seniors Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nTūrangawaewae is one of the most well-known and powerful Māori concepts. Literally tūranga (standing place)\, waewae (feet)\, it is often translated as ‘a place to stand’. Tūrangawaewae are places where we feel especially empowered and connected. They are our foundation\, our place in the world\, our home. \nOur Year 11\, 12 and 13 Art students have explored the theme of identity through understanding their tūrangawaewae. Woven through the exhibition are the students’ visits to our school marae\, Te Wairoa\, their journey to Tauranga city\, Mount Maunganui beach\, their homes\, memories with whānau and friends\, and their Christian faith. \nThe students have explored a range of mediums including design\, photography\, painting and printmaking. We are incredibly proud of the mahi our students have produced. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday the 5th of June. 5.30pm to 7pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Everyone is welcome. \nOn display in The Peoples Gallery Toi Ka Rere from the 6th of June to the 27th June\, 10am to 3pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:New Moon Sound Bath
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nWelcome to The Sound Temple! Come and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple a beautiful belle tent and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting circle and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realise the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nDuring the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we step into the Sound Temple and settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following:  tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nThe benefits of Sound Baths:\n– Deep Relaxation & Stress Relief: Sound baths calm the nervous system\, lower heart rate\, and reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.\n– Improved Sleep: The low-frequency sounds can help improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia.\n– Mental Clarity & Focus: They can quiet racing thoughts\, improve focus\, and aid in shifting from chaotic to calmer mental states.\n– Physical Healing: Participants often report reduced physical discomfort\, reduced inflammation\, and better circulation.\n– Emotional Release: Sound vibrations can help process emotions and offer relief from anxiety or depression \nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe new moon is a time of new beginnings and is perfect for sowing seeds of new intention. \nThe Sound Temple is a no phone zone. Enjoy the connection with others without digital distractions. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Zero Waste Oversized Tee workshop
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Envirohub and Emroce\nDiscover the art of zero-waste fashion and learn how to make your own oversized T-shirt from scratch. \nIn this hands-on workshop with Emroce designer Emma La Rocca\, you’ll explore simple zero-waste pattern-making techniques to design your own oversized tee. This workshop is ideal for creative beginners\, sewing enthusiasts\, fashion students and anyone curious about sustainable textiles and making clothes more thoughtfully. \nWhat to Bring:\n– Minimum 1 metre x full fabric width of your chosen fabric\n– Helpful but optional: Domestic sewing machine (we have a few spaces available for those who don’t have their own machine. SUMMARY:Te Wehi
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Live Nation New Zealand\nDue to overwhelming demand\, Te Wehi is moving to Baycourt — with only a limited number of seats remaining. \nRooted in real-life stories\, cultural pride\, and deep whakapapa\, his songs resonate with emotional honesty and authenticity. With no original intention of chasing fame\, Te Wehi carved out his own sound and\, in the process\, connected with a genuine fan base that quickly grew across the country. \nTe Wehi has always taken things as they come\, taking pride in learning every part of the journey\, a true reflection of his humble nature. Te Wehi’s self-produced sound has helped him dominate the charts and connect with thousands across Aotearoa and the world. His down-to-earth approach saw him consistently hold onto the number 1 placement on the Aotearoa Music Charts through 2025. \n2025 was a huge year\, taking his live performances to the main stages of Homegrown\, Rhythm & Vines and supporting L.A.B for their recent AU and NZ tour. \nFind out more
