SUMMARY:Something Human by Mathew Johnson and Ila-Rose Hepetema
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nTheir works provoke\, resist\, and explode\, each piece igniting the next until the gallery becomes a chain reaction of ideas. \nThis is a rare collision of two singular creative forces\, an eclipse that exists for only a fleeting moment before the orbit shifts again. Once these works scatter back into their own trajectories\, this constellation will not gather in quite the same way again. \nThis is an exhibition that does not ask for your attention. It seizes it\, burrows into it\, and leaves carrying a piece of you with it. \nTo create is to let the soul speak. Play. Create. Express. Connect. \nIla-Rose Hepetema\, a Bay of Plenty Māori artist\, brings vibrant energy to every canvas through her stunning oil paintings and portraiture. With a lifelong passion for colour theory and composition\, Ila-Rose’s work celebrates saturation and vibrancy in bold\, captivating ways. After honing her craft studying contemporary Māori art at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa\, she’s now building her career as a professional artist\, taking portrait commissions and creating striking works that reimagine Aotearoa’s fauna with modern kōwhaiwhai. \nMathew Johnson | Abmon Photos is\, by all accounts\, a fountain of creative energy. Initially dabbling in photography as a means to create raw material for digital art\, his camera quickly became an all-consuming passion. Mathew’s work seeks authenticity as he explores the human experience. Each frame is a cultural snapshot\, a story for us to explore and connect with from our own unique perspectives. Mathew also offers event photography\, written word\, mentoring\, and digital art services\, bringing his creative vision to a variety of projects. His work blends storytelling and artistry to capture meaningful moments and create lasting impressions. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday 28th August – 5.30pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Licensed Bar onsite\, and everyone is welcome. \nOn display in The Incubator Gallery and Studios from the 29th to the 19th of September. 10am – 3pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Full Moon Sound Bath - Fri 28th Aug
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nCome and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realize the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nAfter the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following: tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe full moon brings a natural conclusion to past cycles and it is a time to let go of that which no longer serves. \nThe Sound Temple is a no phone zone. Enjoy the connection with others without digital distractions. \nThere is a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs. Any guests who are under the influence will be asked to leave and no refund offered. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:The Feedback Lab
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nSTOP MARKING YOUR OWN HOMEWORK! \nIt’s time to unlock your creative noncritical voice. \nIntroducing the Feedback Lab 2026/27 monthly sessions. \nThe Feedback Lab invites artists of many different disciplines and levels to connect\, explore\, and share information ideas and processes in a relaxed non-judgemental environment. \nLead by Carol Bisset\, the Feedback Lab provides a safe place in which to share fresh perspectives on your own and other artists work. Throughout the year there will be a select group of guest speakers who will introduce us to their unique journeys as practising artists. \n“I’m really pleased to hear the Feedback Lab might be returning. \nWhat made it different for me was the intentional focus on constructive dialogue. It created a space where artists could share work and receive considered feedback from fresh perspectives. That process encouraged deeper reflection and brought valuable analytical insight into my own practice. I especially appreciated the opportunity to connect with other artists in Tauranga Moana in a meaningful way; not just socially\, but through critical and creative exchange. \nCarol is an outstanding facilitator. She creates a respectful\, responsive environment where people feel safe to speak honestly. Her ability to guide discussion while allowing space for diverse viewpoints is a real strength. \nGrassroots\, inclusive initiatives like this are vital for sustaining a healthy and connected arts community. They make critical conversation accessible and strengthen relationships within the local creative sector. ” \n– Fiorella Silva Perez. \nFind out more
