SUMMARY:Just Bring Yourselves - An Exhibition by Jennie Holdsworth
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nJust Bring Yourselves is a collection of mixed media paintings exploring domestic interiors\, chairs\, vessels and lamps in warm\, muted tones. \nThrough paint\, collage and layered surfaces\, the works reflect on warmth\, welcome and the spaces we return to. A chair at a table asks who sat there before\, or who it might be waiting for. Lamps\, vessels and familiar rooms hold the feeling of home. These are paintings about what a place or an object can hold. \nThe aesthetic behind this work was inherited before it was chosen. It comes from growing up in a home with a particular kind of warmth\, and from three generations sharing a similar way of making a home. The Dutch call it gezellig; a feeling that is difficult to translate but easy to recognise. \nJennie Holdsworth is a mixed media artist and Visual Art educator based in Tauranga\, Aotearoa New Zealand. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts\, University of Auckland\, and a Graduate Diploma in Teaching. Her work has sold to private collectors across New Zealand. Just Bring Yourselves is her first solo exhibition. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World\nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday 31st July\, 5.30pm – 7pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga Everyone is welcome. Licensed Bar available \nOn display at The Incubator Gallery from 1st August to the 22nd of August. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Windows and Raw Presence
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology\nBachelor of Creative Industries and Te Ara o Mauao Gallery are pleased to present two graduate solo exhibitions for 2026\, featuring Anitarewa Robertson and Kristina Rachacova. \nWorking across sculpture\, painting\, installation and ceramics\, Robertson and Rachacova examine the ways material holds memory\, identity and lived experience. While their practices emerge from distinct perspectives\, both artists engage process as a form of enquiry\, using material as a site of transformation\, connection and reflection. \nIn Windows\, Anitarewa Robertson assembles found domestic and building materials into sculptural installations that draw on fragments of childhood\, place and memory. Through acts of collecting\, reconfiguring and layering\, discarded materials become carriers of personal and collective histories\, revealing networks of connection between people\, objects and place. \nKristina Rachacova’s ceramic vessels and paintings respond to systems of hierarchy and constructed ideals of perfection through an embodied exploration of the feminine. Rooted in gesture and touch\, her work embraces complexity\, adaptability and cyclical change\, where clay becomes a material language for resilience\, intimacy\, care and transformation. \nTogether\, these exhibitions present two emerging artists whose materially driven practices invite audiences to consider how objects\, surfaces and processes can hold and communicate the complexities of memory\, identity and belonging. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:New Moon Sound Bath - Wed 12th Aug
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nWelcome to The Sound Temple! Come and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple a beautiful belle tent and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting circle and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realise the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nDuring the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we step into the Sound Temple and settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following:  tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nThe benefits of Sound Baths: \n– Deep Relaxation & Stress Relief: Sound baths calm the nervous system\, lower heart rate\, and reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.\n– Improved Sleep: The low-frequency sounds can help improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia.\n– Mental Clarity & Focus: They can quiet racing thoughts\, improve focus\, and aid in shifting from chaotic to calmer mental states.\n– Physical Healing: Participants often report reduced physical discomfort\, reduced inflammation\, and better circulation.\n– Emotional Release: Sound vibrations can help process emotions and offer relief from anxiety or depression. \nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe new moon is a time of new beginnings and is perfect for sowing seeds of new intention. \nThe Sound Temple is a no phone zone. Enjoy the connection with others without digital distractions. \nThis is a drug and alcohol free event\, this policy ensures the safety of all guests. Anyone found to be under the influence of substances will be asked to leave and no refund offered. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Bay of Plenty Symphonia presents Strings Attached
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Bay of Plenty Symphonia\nThaw the icy chill of winter with the warm glow of Bay of Plenty Symphonia’s strings in “Strings Attached” – an exploration of string orchestra repertoire from the sparkling elegance of the Baroque to the distinctive voice of New Zealand composition\, all led by conductor Lara Hall. \nThough less well-known that his Four Seasons\, Vivaldi’s Concertos for Strings RV 156 and 157 burst with the same rhythmic vitality\, expressive lyricism\, and the infectious energy that have made Vivaldi one of classical music’s most enduring favourites. Mozart’s delightful Divertimento in F is full of grace\, wit\, and effortless melodic beauty. Its elegant conversation between the sections of the orchestra offers a glimpse into the composer’s remarkable ability to combine sophistication with pure enjoyment. \nThe Bay of Plenty Symphonia is especially proud to feature a rarely heard female New Zealand composer. Dorothy Freed’s Suite for String Orchestra showcases the expressive richness and versatility of the string ensemble through music of colour\, character\, and lyrical imagination. Her music reminds us of Douglas Lilburn and evokes the New Zealand landscape beuatifully. Rounding off the performance is the ever-popular Ring Around the Moon Suite by David Farquhar\, in an arrangement for string orchestra – a lively and engaging work. \nSwapping her violin for a baton Lara Hall makes a welcome return to the Bay of Plenty Symphonia after appearing as violin soloist with the orchestra in two recent performances. A highly regarded musician known for her expressive artistry and engaging stage presence\, Hall now takes the podium to guide the orchestra through this richly varied programme\, bringing fresh insight and musical vitality to works spanning three centuries. \nDon’t miss this irresistible celebration of the string orchestra! \nFind out more

SUMMARY:The After Hours Book Club - Waihī Beach
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Waihī Beach Events & Promotions\nFree adult book club in Waihī Beach (18+). From romantasy to fanfiction\, audiobooks to special editions. Every reader belongs here. \nPlease only RSVP if you are confident you can attend. We need accurate numbers for the venue\, so please only secure your spot if you are planning to be there.Supported by The Acorn Foundation 2026 Local Impact Funding. \nKia ora! The After Hours Book Club is a free\, open-door evening space for adult readers of all kinds right here in Waihī Beach. \nWhether you read one book a year or one a week\, whether it’s a library borrow\, an audiobook\, a Kindle\, a dog-eared paperback\, or fanfiction at midnight\, you belong here. There are no rules about what counts as reading\, and no judgement about what you love. \nOur first two sessions have honestly been such lovely nights\, full of easy conversation\, new friendships\, and far too many book recommendations to keep track of. If you haven’t made it along yet\, this is a great month to start. \nThis month\, we’re leaning into a Mystery & Thriller theme. That’s just a loose flavour for the evening’s prompts and activities\, not a reading requirement. You don’t need to have read a single whodunnit\, watched a crime drama\, or even like the genre to join in. Come as you are\, and the conversation will do the rest. \nOur third session is Wednesday 19th August\, 6pm to 7:30pm at Flatwhite. The kitchen and bar will be open on the night\, so come hungry (and thirsty)\, and help us support this wonderful local spot that has so generously offered their space for free. \nHow the evening works: \n6:00pm – Doors open. Grab a drink\, find a table\, and settle in. The table you choose will be your group for the evening\, giving you a small\, friendly circle of people to really get to know rather than getting lost in a big crowd. \n6:15pm – A quick welcome. \n6:20pm – Self-led activities and conversation at your table. No pressure\, no performing\, just good books and good company. \n7:15pm – A short wrap up from the events team. From there\, feel free to stay and keep chatting\, or quietly make your way home. \nThe After Hours Book Club was created because books have a way of getting us through the hard times. This is a space to celebrate that\, to connect with other likeminded people\, and to discover your next favourite read. \nCome in your PJs\, your finery\, your trackies\, whatever feels comfortable. This is an after hours space\, and it’s yours. \nWe meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6pm. \nFind out more
