DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Tauranga Arts Festival\nBlind and low vision patrons will get the chance to engage in a “touch tour” before one of the Tauranga Art Festival performances. \nTo promote access at the festival\, the touch tour will be held before the Tiri: Te Araroa Woman Far Walking performance at Baycourt on October 30. \nThe 6pm-6.30pm tour supports the live commentary offered by Audio Described Aotearoa for the 7.30pm show. \nThose on the touch tour will get to explore the set\, costumes and sensory elements of the Tiri show before being offered an audio description via earpiece\, by audio describer Nicola Kāwana. \nTauranga Arts Festival director Megan Brown\, who has worked with Nicola Owen and Paul Brown of Audio Described Aotearoa before\, says she’s delighted with this opportunity\, which is aligned with the festival’s intention to be inclusive in as many ways as possible. This touch tour and audio description is made possible thanks to the generous partnership and support of Baycourt Community and Arts Centre. \nAudio Described Aotearoa was formed in 2014 to make it as easy as possible for organisations to offer audio description to benefit blind and low vision people. DESCRIPTION:A Tauranga Fringe Festival Show\nA feature attraction of the Tauranga Fringe Festival WORN is a celebration of adornment\, jewellery\, fashion objects and the beautiful unexpected contemporary wearable art. \nWe have artists\, makers\, designers and creative provocateurs who have transformed a simple black oil drum into a captivating miniature exhibition.   \n \nThink beyond traditional jewellery.  These creatives have channelled their inner Vivienne Westwood. Embraced brutalist industrial aesthetics and explored salvaged treasures and upcycled materials. \nThe results are refined and precious\, raw and experimental.  Some are sustainably driven or gloriously extravagant.  WORN invites bold ideas and imaginative presentation. \n \nEach artist has curated a selection of suspend works that are wearable art collections demonstrating creativity\, craftsmanship and a strong artistic vision.  Each cohesive collection of wearable works stands proudly as both art and adornment\, they create unexpected juxtapositions and transform each suspended drum into a miniature exhibition. \n \nFrom elegant contemporary jewellery to wearable sculpture\, body adornments and textile interventions\, WORN celebrates the rich diversity of wearable art practice.
