DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Little Big Events\nJoin us in the Venetta Miles Vault for the continuous loop screening of two short documentaries\, Breaking the Mould (2024) and Good Kunst (2024) — both approximately 15 minutes — created and produced by Daughter Productions’ Phillida Perry. \nScreenings will take place on the first Sunday of each month from Jul–Oct\, 1–3pm. You’re welcome to drop in at anytime\, with no booking or registration required: \n\nSunday 5 July 2026\, 1–3pm\nSunday 2 August 2026\, 1–3pm\nSunday 6 September 2026\, 1–3pm\nSunday 4 October 2026\, 1–3pm\n\nBreaking the Mould\nA visceral glimpse into the life and work of acclaimed New Zealand sculptor Jaime Jenkins\, Breaking the Mould\, focuses on how Jenkin’s unconventional upbringing combines with the elements to inform her ceramic explorations. \nCurrently on view in the Long Gallery\, Jaime Jenkins’ Almost Touching is the artist’s first solo public gallery exhibition. Presented for the first time in her hometown of Tauranga Moana\, the exhibition brings together recent and new works that explore the organic\, intricate\, and architectural forms of the natural environment. \nAlmost Touching has been developed in partnership with The Dowse Art Museum. Curated by Karl Chitham (Ngāpuhi)\, it will show at the Dowse in 2027. \nGood Kunst\nProducer and film-maker\, Phillida Perry\, follows an all-women kiwi art-buying group operating under the moniker The Kunst Collective find their thirteen-year bonds under threat when they bring their collection to auction. \nIn conversation with the exhibition Private View — a collaboration with Toi Tauranga Art Gallery and Kathrine McDonald Design in The Pitau Gallery — the film and exhibition opens the door into the world of art collectors and significant works across Aotearoa. Hung in clusters above dining tables and placed at the heart of living rooms\, these artworks carry the stories of their makers and their collectors. \nFind out more
