SUMMARY:Windows and Raw Presence
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology\nBachelor of Creative Industries and Te Ara o Mauao Gallery are pleased to present two graduate solo exhibitions for 2026\, featuring Anitarewa Robertson and Kristina Rachacova. \nWorking across sculpture\, painting\, installation and ceramics\, Robertson and Rachacova examine the ways material holds memory\, identity and lived experience. While their practices emerge from distinct perspectives\, both artists engage process as a form of enquiry\, using material as a site of transformation\, connection and reflection. \nIn Windows\, Anitarewa Robertson assembles found domestic and building materials into sculptural installations that draw on fragments of childhood\, place and memory. Through acts of collecting\, reconfiguring and layering\, discarded materials become carriers of personal and collective histories\, revealing networks of connection between people\, objects and place. \nKristina Rachacova’s ceramic vessels and paintings respond to systems of hierarchy and constructed ideals of perfection through an embodied exploration of the feminine. Rooted in gesture and touch\, her work embraces complexity\, adaptability and cyclical change\, where clay becomes a material language for resilience\, intimacy\, care and transformation. \nTogether\, these exhibitions present two emerging artists whose materially driven practices invite audiences to consider how objects\, surfaces and processes can hold and communicate the complexities of memory\, identity and belonging. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:The After Hours Book Club - Waihī Beach
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Waihī Beach Events & Promotions\nFree adult book club in Waihī Beach (18+). From romantasy to fanfiction\, audiobooks to special editions. Every reader belongs here. \nPlease only RSVP if you are confident you can attend. We need accurate numbers for the venue\, so please only secure your spot if you are planning to be there.Supported by The Acorn Foundation 2026 Local Impact Funding. \nKia ora! The After Hours Book Club is a free\, open-door evening space for adult readers of all kinds right here in Waihī Beach. \nWhether you read one book a year or one a week\, whether it’s a library borrow\, an audiobook\, a Kindle\, a dog-eared paperback\, or fanfiction at midnight\, you belong here. There are no rules about what counts as reading\, and no judgement about what you love. \nOur first two sessions have honestly been such lovely nights\, full of easy conversation\, new friendships\, and far too many book recommendations to keep track of. If you haven’t made it along yet\, this is a great month to start. \nThis month\, we’re leaning into a Mystery & Thriller theme. That’s just a loose flavour for the evening’s prompts and activities\, not a reading requirement. You don’t need to have read a single whodunnit\, watched a crime drama\, or even like the genre to join in. Come as you are\, and the conversation will do the rest. \nOur third session is Wednesday 19th August\, 6pm to 7:30pm at Flatwhite. The kitchen and bar will be open on the night\, so come hungry (and thirsty)\, and help us support this wonderful local spot that has so generously offered their space for free. \nHow the evening works: \n6:00pm – Doors open. Grab a drink\, find a table\, and settle in. The table you choose will be your group for the evening\, giving you a small\, friendly circle of people to really get to know rather than getting lost in a big crowd. \n6:15pm – A quick welcome. \n6:20pm – Self-led activities and conversation at your table. No pressure\, no performing\, just good books and good company. \n7:15pm – A short wrap up from the events team. From there\, feel free to stay and keep chatting\, or quietly make your way home. \nThe After Hours Book Club was created because books have a way of getting us through the hard times. This is a space to celebrate that\, to connect with other likeminded people\, and to discover your next favourite read. \nCome in your PJs\, your finery\, your trackies\, whatever feels comfortable. This is an after hours space\, and it’s yours. \nWe meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:The Feedback Lab
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nSTOP MARKING YOUR OWN HOMEWORK! \nIt’s time to unlock your creative noncritical voice. \nIntroducing the Feedback Lab 2026/27 monthly sessions. \nThe Feedback Lab invites artists of many different disciplines and levels to connect\, explore\, and share information ideas and processes in a relaxed non-judgemental environment. \nLead by Carol Bisset\, the Feedback Lab provides a safe place in which to share fresh perspectives on your own and other artists work. Throughout the year there will be a select group of guest speakers who will introduce us to their unique journeys as practising artists. \n“I’m really pleased to hear the Feedback Lab might be returning. \nWhat made it different for me was the intentional focus on constructive dialogue. It created a space where artists could share work and receive considered feedback from fresh perspectives. That process encouraged deeper reflection and brought valuable analytical insight into my own practice. I especially appreciated the opportunity to connect with other artists in Tauranga Moana in a meaningful way; not just socially\, but through critical and creative exchange. \nCarol is an outstanding facilitator. She creates a respectful\, responsive environment where people feel safe to speak honestly. Her ability to guide discussion while allowing space for diverse viewpoints is a real strength. \nGrassroots\, inclusive initiatives like this are vital for sustaining a healthy and connected arts community. They make critical conversation accessible and strengthen relationships within the local creative sector. ” \n– Fiorella Silva Perez.

\nFind out more
