DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Opus Orchestra\nOpus Orchestra will present a powerful programme of orchestral and vocal music this May\, pairing a major New Zealand opera by Dame Gillian Karawe Whitehead with one of Beethoven’s most exhilarating works. \nAt the heart of the concerts is The Journey of Mataatua Whare\, a moving opera in concert that tells the true story of the great wharenui Mataatua\, built in Whakatāne in 1875 by Ngāti Awa. Taken overseas without consent\, the wharenui spent decades travelling the world before finally returning home in 2011. \nThrough Whitehead’s distinctive musical language\, the opera explores themes of history\, identity\, loss and return. The work is presented in concert form and brought to life by three outstanding emerging New Zealand singers: soprano Katherine Winitana\, baritone Tomairangi Henare\, and bass Samuel McKeever. Each singer represents a different perspective within the story — Te Ao Māori\, the Pākehā world\, and the voice of the wharenui itself — giving the opera strong dramatic focus and emotional depth. The Waikato University Voice Programme Ensemble will join Opus Orchestra for the performances. \nThe programme is completed by Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5\, the “Emperor” Concerto\, a work of heroic scale\, lyrical beauty and triumphant spirit. Celebrated New Zealand pianist Stephen De Pledge will appear as soloist\, bringing virtuosity and insight to this cornerstone of the concerto repertoire. \n“I am delighted to be making my debut with the orchestra of my ‘home’ region for this concert\,” says De Pledge. “The Emperor has long been a favourite concerto for me\, a magisterial and magical work that holds endless fascination. DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nCome and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realise the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nAfter the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following:  tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe full moon brings a natural conclusion to past cycles and it is a time to let go of that which no longer serves. \nFind out more

DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nCome and join me for a beautiful sound experience in the Sound Temple\, a beautiful Belle tent in Mount Maunganui. \nHosted amongst the sounds of nature\, on rural land. Relax in harmony with crystal bowls\, chimes\, medicine drum and gong. \nThe healing frequencies of nature and harmonics is a gorgeous combination. Come as you are and leave feeling calm\, nurtured and uplifted. \nBenefits of sound can include: \nCalm the nervous system. Certain tones and rhythms can activate your parasympathetic nervous system\, or your body’s “rest-and-digest” mode. That helps slow your heart rate\, relax muscles\, and ease stress. \nShift your brain waves. Your brain uses different wave patterns\, depending on what you’re doing. Sound baths may help shift you from active beta waves to slower alpha\, theta\, or delta waves\, which are linked to calmer\, \nSync up your brain and body. Some researchers think sound can create a more organized brainwave pattern that helps you feel mentally clear and physically relaxed. DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Ruth Holden | The Sound Temple\nWelcome to The Sound Temple! Come and unplug from the world in nature and receive\, be nurtured and feel connected. \nThis is a two hour sacred fire ceremony and sound bath with cacao. These circles are held in the Sound Temple a beautiful belle tent and on the land surrounding\, we gather round the fire for a powerful intention setting circle and connection and prepare the participants for a deep sound journey.  Each event is individually curated\, making best use of the opportunity to work intentionally in flow with the planetary alignments and realise the incredible potential that comes with the various phases of the moon. \nDuring the fire ceremony we enjoy a high quality locally sourced cacao\, Essence cacao is a sacred elixir from Samoa that enriches the experience by aiding in expanding the heart chakra to create space for expansion and vulnerability. This medicine can help you journey into states of higher awareness and connect you to your inner desires. \nThe Sound Bath: after the cacao we step into the Sound Temple and settle in for a deeply nurturing and nourishing sound bath. This can consist of any of the following:  tuning forks\, essential oils\, medicine drum\, crystal bowls\, chimes\, shakers\, crystals and harp. Reiki may also be included. \nThe benefits of Sound Baths:\n– Deep Relaxation & Stress Relief: Sound baths calm the nervous system\, lower heart rate\, and reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.\n– Improved Sleep: The low-frequency sounds can help improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia.\n– Mental Clarity & Focus: They can quiet racing thoughts\, improve focus\, and aid in shifting from chaotic to calmer mental states.\n– Physical Healing: Participants often report reduced physical discomfort\, reduced inflammation\, and better circulation.\n– Emotional Release: Sound vibrations can help process emotions and offer relief from anxiety or depression \nAfter the sound bath the circle is closed and our guests have the opportunity to drift off home or to stay and share. Those who stay will be invited to journal\, chat and have a sleepy tea together to unpack the experience. \nThe new moon is a time of new beginnings and is perfect for sowing seeds of new intention. \nThe Sound Temple is a no phone zone.
