SUMMARY:Mums & Teen Daughters Art Session
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Stacey Moore Artist\nCome along with your teenage daughter and spend some time together doing something a little different. \nThis is a relaxed abstract painting session where you can switch off\, have a chat\, get creative and just enjoy being together. You don’t need to be “arty” or have any painting experience – you’ll learn some simple techniques to encourage you to play with colour\, shapes and texture to create your own beautiful piece of art. \nIt’s also a lovely chance for your daughter to meet and connect with other teens in a relaxed\, creative environment. Sometimes it’s easier to chat and make new connections when you’re doing something together\, without the pressure of having to make conversation. This session is not about getting it “right” or creating a perfect painting. It’s about having fun\, trying something new\, connecting and enjoying some quality time together. \nCome along to relax\, have a laugh\, meet some new people and create something you can both take home. \nPlease note\, these sessions are intended for mothers and daughters (13+) to attend together. Please purchase the number of tickets per person attending. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Bare Minimum - Life Drawing
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Incubator Creative Hub\nKeen for a dose of creative mindfulness? \nSuitable for beginner artists through to advanced\, these relaxed monthly sessions provide a fabulous opportunity to hone your observational drawing skills. The session will be hosted by long standing Incubator collaborator and talented artist\, Damien Kurth. He will be there to offer demonstrations\, support\, hints\, challenges and feedback for those who want it. \nWe will provide basic drawing supplies and a live model. Bring a mate\, your favourite drawing materials and refreshments. See ya there! \n*Out for respect for the model and the life drawing process\, this is a closed workshop. Please arrive with time to settle in before the workshop begins and doors close at 6pm. \nA word from the The Incubator: We are always striving to try make art opportunities more affordable and accessible for the community. At the same time we are also working to pay artists and collaborators fairly\, maintain our spaces and provide the necessary materials and resources. This intimate monthly gathering\, is a self-sustaining series. It needs a minimum number of participants to break even and anything above that goes toward the aforementioned necessities for future sessions. We think the Bare Minimum Life Drawing experience is unique one – offering extremely knowledgeable tutelage in a vibrant gallery setting amidst a curated exhibition of inspired artworks. SUMMARY:Textured Art Painting
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Incubator Creative Hub\nPlay with texture\, explore your creativity and create a beautiful artwork in this vibrant and social Textured Art Painting workshop. \nIn this workshop you’ll explore textured painting\, a technique where paint is mixed and applied in thicker layers to create depth on the canvas. Instead of focusing on perfect brushstrokes\, it’s about playing with shapes and movement. It’s surprisingly freeing and a lot of fun! \nLaura will guide you step by step\, but there’s plenty of room to experiment and make the piece your own. By the end of the session\, you’ll have your own textured artwork to take home. \nAll art materials and tools provided\, as well as a few snacks and nibble. BYO drink if you’d like.🍷🍻 \nIt’s a vibrant and social evening — great to come with friends\, as a couple\, or even on your own if you feel like doing something creative after work.  Important note – Texture can only be white. \nLaura is an Incubator resident artist in the Villa Studios – pop in and say hi! Deeply inspired by the ocean\, Laura’s work reflects the intricate beauty of coral formations and marine ecosystems. Using textured layers\, structural elements and resin\, she creates tactile pieces that evoke the depth and movement found beneath the water’s surface. \nLearn more about Laura and her art here. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Kiln God Exhibition - Pot House Gallery Group Show
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nWe invited potters and ceramists to create their own guardian figures to watch over our brand-new tabletop kiln. The response? Incredible. Now you can see them all at The Pot House – and take home one of your very own. \nFor centuries\, kiln gods have been placed near fires to protect the firing process and bring good fortune. In China and Hong Kong\, Yao Shen is enshrined in temples near kilns\, where potters pray\, burn incense\, and leave offerings. In ancient Greece\, Athena herself was called upon to oversee successful firings\, while mischievous kiln demons were said to punish poorly fired wares. \nIn Western studios today\, potters often handcraft their own playful or personal guardians from leftover clay\, placing them on or near the kiln as symbols of hope\, superstition\, and skill. \nNow\, these timeless protectors are ready to find new homes. \nWhether you place one by your fireplace\, beside the heat pump\, or somewhere it can quietly watch over your whānau\, a kiln god brings a little warmth and a lot of character. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World This exhibition launch preview is Friday 25th September – 5.30pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Licensed Bar onsite\, and everyone is welcome. \nOn display at The Pot House Gallery from the 26th of September to the 17th of October 10am to 3pm. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Greenman Clay Mask Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nA Greenman is a sculpture found across many cultures around the globe\, throughout history. Often found outside in parks or formal gardens\, hanging on walls\, imbedded in religious architecture\, the Greenman is a face surrounded by or made from leaves with branches or vines sprouting from the nose or mouth. It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth representing the cycle of growth each spring. It also has pagan roots as a rebellious artform – during the Norman conquest of England\, natives of the land were forced to build Norman churches and the Greenmen that appeared on these churches were often caricatures of their conquerors. \nEvery participant will be able to achieve their own unique mask made from clay with guidance by master potter\, Nick Eggleston. They will be fired and ready to collect within 3 weeks of the workshop. \nNick is a long-time collaborator\, tutor and resident artist of The Incubator. He graduated from Chesterfield College of Art and Design and is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen. While he is world renown for his amazing water colours\, especially of English Bull Terriers\, he is an actually an artist of many disciplines. He also happens to be a master potter\, a shoemaker\, and of course\, sketch artist. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Visual Music and Mark Making
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Toi Tauranga Art Gallery\nSquiggla returns to Toi Tauranga Art Gallery on Sat 3 Oct 2026\, for 2 x Visual Music and Mark Making workshops. We invite you to explore visual music — making sense of the senses through responsive mark making in harmony with music. \n“Music is not limited to the world of sound. There exists a music of the visual world.” — Oskar Fischinger. \nChoose from one of the two sessions below:\nSat 3 Oct 2026\, 10.30am–12pm\nSat 3 Oct 2026\, 1pm–2.30pm \nNo previous experience required. Suitable for all ages but children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Ticket prices include all materials. \nThe idea of visual music is important for Squiggla because it offers a shared framework for thinking about mark making beyond representation. Just as music is built from sound rather than images\, Squiggla invites us to work with marks as material in their own right. Think of your mark-making tools as instruments in an orchestra. Respond to the music you hear\, composing and performing in real time\, with an eye and ear for pattern\, synchronisation\, rhythm\, tone\, variation and play. \nIt’s Squiggla time! You won’t be disappointed! \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Afterschool Sew Love Club
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nThis is your opportunity to learn to sew\, flex your creativity\, have some fun crafting and take home some special\, unique items and garments\, made by you! \nEach session we will have a special project to work on (patterns and fabrics included). If you’d like to work on a project that takes longer you can use these sessions for extra help on that journey. All sewing levels welcome! \nSarah Sew Love is a self proclaimed “hype girl for YOUR sustainable sewing journey”! She’s been sewing\, blogging\, gramming and teaching sewing for over 10 years through her sewcial enterprise Sew Love and she’s now calling Tauranga home. Sarah’s known for popping up workshops all over NZ; alongside markets\, conferences\, schools\, community houses & recycle centres to share her passion for sewing skills and sustainable living. “DIYing the reusables we need\, repairing the things we love\, embracing sewing slow and sewing together with others – it all makes our lives more special!” In recent years she’s mostly known for her sellout upcycled scrap bum bags and dancing around on instagram but hosting workshops is her homebase of happiness. Rest assured the energy is just the same in real life so come join one of her workshops this winter in our Social Fabric room. With big smiles and rainbow fabric scraps\, her workshops always provide a safe space and encouragement for everyone’s creativity and self expression through sewing. \nCheck out Sarah’s website – www.sewlove.nz \nFind out more
