NEWS: CCS Funding Presentations

The evenings of the 23rd and 24th April saw our first round of Creative Communities Scheme funding presentations held at Creative Bay Of Plenty HQ.

This round saw a record number of funding applications with a variety projects and events from across the arts sector. 

Creative New Zealand spends over $3.2 million each year supporting around 1,800 projects through the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS). Creative Bay of Plenty, on behalf of Tauranga City Council and Western Bay of Plenty Council, administers the CCS for our districts.

We will keep you posted on the progress of our applicants and the projects they are working on as they develop.

NEWS: New Dawn, New Day, New Window Display....

Mix a love for art, patience and a whole lot of talent and you get William Bryce Rhodes. William, also known as Bryce, is Creative Bay Of Plenty's newest front window exhibitor. Since putting up his display we have watched many passers-by stop in their tracks and admire his works. Expressive faces, moments caught in time, family, love, these are etched into wood each telling their own story.

NEWS: Chorus Box Makeover Magic 

Another Chorus box has just become a work of art this week. You will spot in on the corner of Valley Road and Golf Road in Mount Maunganui. This beautiful Chorus Cabinet depicting scenes of our harbour entrance comes to you courtesy of local creative Shane Walker , Keep New Zealand Beautiful and Creative Bay Of Plenty.  
After a wet and dismal weekend this image reminds me that the sun will always come out and wash colour across our sky.

NEWS: Western Bay Of Plenty Arts 

Over the last couple of weeks the Creative Bay Of Plenty Team have been out on the road in the Western BOP meeting the passionate and dedicated people working at the coal face of community organisations. Through these connections and as we continue to build our relationships with those involved in the region we hope to be able to better Connect, Upskill, Support & Promote.

NEWS: Creative New Zealand Investment Strategy

An investment strategy to shape Creative New Zealand’s overall arts investment over the next five years has been agreed by the Arts Council.

The Investment Strategy Te Ara Whakamua 2018–2023 will guide Creative New Zealand’s investment from 2018/19 with the aim of ensuring the agency meets the future needs of the arts in Aotearoa.’

DISCUSSION: Water: Art, Science and Culture

Collaboration between art and science can help change the way we look at the environment and spark debate on how to protect it. You are invited to an interesting panel discussion that can encourage new thinking.

WORKSHOPS: Lets Learn

I want to do them all! Looking to learn a new skill? Our region has so many interesting classes. I don't want to hear anyone saying there is nothing to do in Tauranga!
