Thought glass blowing was the only way to make a glass vessel or bowl?  Think not!

This workshop will illustrate how to use the heat and gravity of a kiln to form a beautiful glass vessel.  To begin with you will make a set of colour samples which will form the basis of your design for your final piece, and which can also be kept for future reference. Bullseye glass sheet, frit, powder, and stringer are the glass materials that will be used throughout the four days.  An in-depth session on glass cutting and an introduction to coldworking will also be taught, as well as a presentation on the many other techniques that can be used to make kilnformed glass art.  At the end of this course you will go home with a beautiful glass vessel that you have made yourself!

There is an optional session for all participants from 7.30 to 9.30pm (approx) on Saturday evening.  This is when the kiln is at top temperature and you get to see the magic of science and art - watching the effects of heat and gravity on glass and how it causes it to drop!

This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience.  It is limited to six people.  The price stated is per person and the course fee covers all materials, use of equipment, and kiln firing time. Morning tea will also be provided.
