Give back to your community: see below for more information from IDEA services around this role
At IDEA Services (Intellectual Disability Empowerment in Action), we are committed to helping people achieve their goals and live great lives.
The name of our programme "Mana Tangata; Mana Taiao - Our people; our land" is indicative of our goals as we move forward beyond 2019. Our aim is to be recognised in the community as geuine kaitiaki (guardians) through our tautoko and awhi for others.
It is our aim to link all our gardening, crafts, arts, music, drama and dance towards supporting this valuable kaupapa showing IDEA Vocational as true kaitiaki of our community.
Another goal of Mana Tangata; Mana Taiao is to introduce more directed activities and options for our day services with a focus on extending our more capable tauira and providing more opportunities for others. We are also keen to create supportive employment opportunities for some of our tauira.
Upon review many of our activities are either fill ins or not challenging or teaching new skills; there is definitely an opportunity for change. We wish to identify art and craft tutors prepared to give two days of their time to teach new skills to our awesome tauira. The activities you teach are up to you although we are focused on zero waste and giving to our community.
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?
ARE YOU AN ART/DESIGN/CRAFT TUTOR WILLING TO KOHA SOME OF YOUR TIME TO THIS INITIATIVE?
