Our ‘Art In Business’ program endeavours to create connections between the regions arts and culture sector and business community. In 2018, the mutually-beneficial program involved local artist Birgitt Shannon, whose works were delivered to the Kathleen Kilgour Centre for display.
Susanne Irwin, manager at Ignition, had this to say about the program:
“Every day Ignition members, their clients, guests to our events as well as people from out of town that utilise our space for meetings, form an ongoing, constantly changing audience. Being surrounded by eye-catching artwork often triggers interest and conversations. As a result, we helped to sell two paintings by local artist Jeanette Pleijte last December. Currently we have three works by Birgitt Shannon on display – stunning, colourful paintings, bold shapes and motifs that leave plenty of room for personal interpretation.”
Our artist, Birgitt, was also pleased with the success of the 2018 program:
“I decided to take part in Art in Business because I thought it was a great opportunity and another way to get my art ‘out there’. I paint large, bold paintings that I think are suited to hanging in a business space and add colour to usually neutral walls.”
