SUMMARY:Greenman Clay Mask Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nA Greenman is a sculpture found across many cultures around the globe\, throughout history. Often found outside in parks or formal gardens\, hanging on walls\, imbedded in religious architecture\, the Greenman is a face surrounded by or made from leaves with branches or vines sprouting from the nose or mouth. It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth representing the cycle of growth each spring. It also has pagan roots as a rebellious artform – during the Norman conquest of England\, natives of the land were forced to build Norman churches and the Greenmen that appeared on these churches were often caricatures of their conquerors. \nEvery participant will be able to achieve their own unique mask made from clay with guidance by master potter\, Nick Eggleston. They will be fired and ready to collect within 3 weeks of the workshop. \nNick is a long-time collaborator\, tutor and resident artist of The Incubator. He graduated from Chesterfield College of Art and Design and is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen. While he is world renown for his amazing water colours\, especially of English Bull Terriers\, he is an actually an artist of many disciplines. DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nSTOP MARKING YOUR OWN HOMEWORK! \nIt’s time to unlock your creative noncritical voice. \nIntroducing the Feedback Lab 2026/27 monthly sessions. \nThe Feedback Lab invites artists of many different disciplines and levels to connect\, explore\, and share information ideas and processes in a relaxed non-judgemental environment. \nLead by Carol Bisset\, the Feedback Lab provides a safe place in which to share fresh perspectives on your own and other artists work. Throughout the year there will be a select group of guest speakers who will introduce us to their unique journeys as practising artists. \n“I’m really pleased to hear the Feedback Lab might be returning. \nWhat made it different for me was the intentional focus on constructive dialogue. It created a space where artists could share work and receive considered feedback from fresh perspectives. That process encouraged deeper reflection and brought valuable analytical insight into my own practice. I especially appreciated the opportunity to connect with other artists in Tauranga Moana in a meaningful way; not just socially\, but through critical and creative exchange. \nCarol is an outstanding facilitator. She creates a respectful\, responsive environment where people feel safe to speak honestly. Her ability to guide discussion while allowing space for diverse viewpoints is a real strength. \nThe super talented and hugely experienced Tauranga Artist Lynette Fisher will be discussing a range of topics including her five year role as Art Award Coordinator for the Molly Morpeth Canady competition. SUMMARY:Greenman Clay Mask Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nA Greenman is a sculpture found across many cultures around the globe\, throughout history. Often found outside in parks or formal gardens\, hanging on walls\, imbedded in religious architecture\, the Greenman is a face surrounded by or made from leaves with branches or vines sprouting from the nose or mouth. It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth representing the cycle of growth each spring. It also has pagan roots as a rebellious artform – during the Norman conquest of England\, natives of the land were forced to build Norman churches and the Greenmen that appeared on these churches were often caricatures of their conquerors. \nEvery participant will be able to achieve their own unique mask made from clay with guidance by master potter\, Nick Eggleston. They will be fired and ready to collect within 3 weeks of the workshop. \nNick is a long-time collaborator\, tutor and resident artist of The Incubator. He graduated from Chesterfield College of Art and Design and is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen. While he is world renown for his amazing water colours\, especially of English Bull Terriers\, he is an actually an artist of many disciplines. Then\, it’s straight into a live portrait session—working from one sustained pose from a model. DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nStep away from the everyday and into a world of coastal creativity. This hands-on workshop invites you to explore the art of decoupage using beautiful natural seashells collected from Papamoa Beach. Whether you come solo\, with a friend\, or as a family\, you’ll enjoy a relaxing and welcoming space where creativity flows freely. \nIn this 2-hour session\, each participant will create two unique Ocean Whisperers pieces to take home: \nA Decoupage Shell Pendant – a wearable keepsake inspired by the sea.\nA Decoupage Shell Dish – a charming little vessel for jewellery\, trinkets\, or special mementos. \nNo experience is needed—just a willingness to have fun and get creative! The workshop is designed to encourage self-expression\, connection with nature\, and a sense of accomplishment in a warm and supportive environment. While it’s a wonderful activity for parents and children to enjoy side-by-side\, it’s equally suited for anyone looking for a calming creative outlet. Teens\, couples\, friends\, and individuals are all welcome. \nMonica is a member of The Incubator’s Artist Window Gallery collective of artists and has artwork for sale in the gallery – “My love for nature has inspired me to create these jewellery trays using decoupage on natural seashells washed ashore on local beaches.” Her workshop has been designed for small groups of people who would like to experience a relaxing time while letting their artistic side take over. Using just one block\, you’ll plan precise cuts and layer coloured inks to watch your unique vision come to life. \nSally-Ann will lead you step by step through the linocut printing process\, learning how to use carving tools\, then carving and printing a two-colour linocut. You’ll also learn to use the printing press\, and how to print by hand using a simple spoon or jam jar. She’ll send you home feeling confident enough to continue printing with lino in your own home. \nWorkshop Highlights:\n– Step-by-Step Guidance: Sally-Ann personally guides you through design selection\, block carving\, and layering colours\, offering personalised attention and expert tips.\n– Quality Materials: Provided lino blocks\, carving tools\, and vibrant\, professional-grade inks ensure lasting artwork. If you do have your own carving tools\, you are welcome to bring them along.\n– Inspirational Environment: Immerse yourself in a creative\, supportive atmosphere surrounded by like-minded artists.\n– Limited Class Size: Intimate class of 12 enables personalised learning. \nAll materials are provided. \nSally-Ann Davies is a UK-born Fine Art Printmaker specialising in woodblock printing\, incorporating diverse techniques like monoprinting\, drypoint\, and collagraphs. With a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moores University\, she found her calling during an Artist in Residence program at an inner-city high school\, inspiring her to pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. After two decades of teaching\, Sally-Ann now resides on Lake Taupo’s scenic shores\, devoting herself full-time to her art. Following a 2017 residency in Tuscany\, she established her full-time printmaking practice in 2021. Inspired by the New Zealand landscape\, her work combines woodcut\, monoprinting\, and collagraph techniques. DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Incubator Creative Hub\nPlay with texture\, explore your creativity and create a beautiful artwork in this vibrant and social Textured Art Painting workshop. \nIn this workshop you’ll explore textured painting\, a technique where paint is mixed and applied in thicker layers to create depth on the canvas. Instead of focusing on perfect brushstrokes\, it’s about playing with shapes and movement. It’s surprisingly freeing and a lot of fun! \nLaura will guide you step by step\, but there’s plenty of room to experiment and make the piece your own. By the end of the session\, you’ll have your own textured artwork to take home. \nAll art materials and tools provided\, as well as a few snacks and nibble. BYO drink if you’d like🍷🍻 \nIt’s a vibrant and social evening — great to come with friends\, as a couple\, or even on your own if you feel like doing something creative after work.  Important note – Texture can only be white. \nLaura is an Incubator resident artist in the Villa Studios – pop in and say hi! Deeply inspired by the ocean\, Laura’s work reflects the intricate beauty of coral formations and marine ecosystems.
