SUMMARY:Tūrangawaewae - Bethlehem College Seniors Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nTūrangawaewae is one of the most well-known and powerful Māori concepts. Literally tūranga (standing place)\, waewae (feet)\, it is often translated as ‘a place to stand’. Tūrangawaewae are places where we feel especially empowered and connected. They are our foundation\, our place in the world\, our home. \nOur Year 11\, 12 and 13 Art students have explored the theme of identity through understanding their tūrangawaewae. Woven through the exhibition are the students’ visits to our school marae\, Te Wairoa\, their journey to Tauranga city\, Mount Maunganui beach\, their homes\, memories with whānau and friends\, and their Christian faith. \nThe students have explored a range of mediums including design\, photography\, painting and printmaking. We are incredibly proud of the mahi our students have produced. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday the 5th of June. 5.30pm to 7pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga.
