SUMMARY:Emancipation | An Exhibition by Fiorella Silva Pérez
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub\nEmancipation is a mixed-media painting exhibition that transforms discarded materials into artworks that move between abstraction and personal narrative. \nThrough this process of transformation\, the exhibition reflects on ideas of release\, renewal\, and the possibility of new meaning emerging from what has been discarded. \nFiorella Silva Pérez is a visual artist who immigrated to New Zealand from Uruguay with her two sons and currently resides in Mount Maunganui. Her work explores contemporary issues affecting different aspects of society. She has long been interested in themes such as racism\, violence\, migration\, poverty\, environmental issues\, and history\, seeking to express these concerns through her art. \nIn her practice\, the artist combines performance and mixed media\, employing a wide range of techniques including oil painting\, three-dimensional assemblage\, sculpture\, and carving. In her most recent work\, Fiorella collects plastic and other debris from New Zealand beaches and melts these materials onto reused canvases\, transforming environmental waste into layered surfaces that reflect both damage and resilience in the natural world. \nSponsored by Gate Pa New World. \nThis exhibition launch preview is Friday 10 April 2026\, 5.30pm – 7pm at The Incubator Creative Hub\, The Tauranga Historic Village\, 17th Ave\, Tauranga. Everyone is welcome. \nOn display at The Incubator Gallery from 11 April to 2 May. \nFind out more

SUMMARY:Come From Away – The Smash-Hit Musical
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Tauranga Musical Theatre\nExperience the global phenomenon that has captured hearts around the world. \nCome From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander\, Newfoundland\, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover\, when 38 planes\, carrying thousands of people from around the globe\, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11\, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers\, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music\, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family. \nSet to a vibrant Celtic-influenced score\, this award-winning musical takes audiences on an emotional\, exhilarating journey as an extraordinary true event unfolds through the eyes of ordinary people. What begins as a moment of international crisis becomes an inspiring tale of kindness\, humanity\, and the power of community. \nAfter its world premiere in 2015\, Come From Away made its Broadway debut in 2017\, earning critical acclaim and becoming one of Broadway’s most celebrated hits of the decade. It went on to play more than 1\,600 performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre and received a Tony Award\, six Olivier Awards\, and widespread international praise for its innovative storytelling and powerful message of unity. The show’s global presence resonates across all audiences as an uplifting reminder of humanity’s ability to come together\, no matter what the circumstances. \nJoin the thousands who have fallen in love with this extraordinary musical. Book your seats now and be part of the story that reminds us: even in the worst of times\, we see the best of humankind. \nOn Tuesday 28 April it’s Pay What You Can\, where you can choose your price to suit your budget.

\nFind out more

SUMMARY:A Taste of Trinity: Flavours of Plenty Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Flavours of Plenty Festival\nEnjoy harbour views at Trinity Wharf’s iconic over-water restaurant with an intimate\, thoughtfully curated two-course menu. \nLed by head chef Peter Jeffré\, whose career spans European apprenticeships and kitchens across Germany and New Zealand\, this thoughtfully curated two-course lunch celebrates seasonal produce at its best. Each course is paired with wines from Leveret Mills Reef\, creating a natural dialogue between kitchen and vineyard. \nPeter’s approach blends classic technique with a genuine respect for ingredients and seasonality. With waterfront views\, a relaxed pace\, and a focus on food\, wine and connection\, this is a Flavours of Plenty experience to savour. \nThis event can cater for gluten-free\, dairy-free\, and vegetarian dietary requirements\, if advised at least seven days in advance. \nIndulge in a long lunch by the sea\, celebrating local flavours\, seasonality\, and the art of plate and glass. You can expect: \n– A non-alcoholic spritz on arrival \n– MAIN: Free-range chicken ballotine with slow-fermented brioche\, celeriac purée\, aromatic hay\, berbere spice\, and a white-wine demi-glace paired with a Mills Reef Reserve Chardonnay \n– DESSERT: Handmade coconut ice cream praline bar\, encased in 70% dark chocolate with candied macadamia\, served alongside a red-wine and vanilla–infused heritage pear paired with a Mills Reef Reserve Cabernet Merlot \n*A non-wine pairing will be available on the day if preferred\, thoughtfully selected from the Mount Brewing Co. range. \nIn collaboration with Leveret Mills Reef\, our menu proudly showcases local suppliers\, producers and ingredients\, including Mount Made Icecream\, Harbourside Macadamia\, Heilala Vanilla\, Solomons Gold\, Mount Brewing Co. and pears from Peter’s own 80-year-old heritage pear tree. \nFind out more
