Press release from The Incubator Creative Hub:

Consider this your invitation and leave your pre-conceived ideas of a fringe festival at the gates!

The Incubator Creative Hub is working alongside their “BFFs” Tauranga Arts Festival, Baycourt and the Historic Village to bring Tauranga the very first Fringe Village. The folks at The Incubator have been working hard to bring together a programme the most interesting and unusual “out of the box” artists and performers.

“It’s going to be a right mash up of theatre, performance art, installation, visual art, music, markets stalls, busking, comedy and everything in between.” says Incubator director Simone Anderson – “expect to be challenged and stimulated with loads of artists and performers having the freedom to experiment to a receptive audience.”

The whole Village on 17th Avenue will be activated – back to back music acts including The Nukes will share the day with Hamilton street performers, free lunch theatre – weird and wonderful market stalls and installations by local and national artists will sit alongside indie films put on by Cult Cinema. Gourmet night markets will curate an array of food stalls and of course the Incubator Creative Hub will be providing their unique touch over the day with exhibitions, buskers, fringe markets, fashion flash mobs and shenanigans.

Nearly all of the attractions at Fringe Village are being presented without renumeration – so bring along a fistful of dollars to support the many artists and performers that have chosen to support the inaugural event purely to make it cool.

The event is family friendly – but be aware there could be some risqué and unusual acts, so that will be up to the discretion of the caregiver on the day.

So keep Saturday 26th October free – from 10am -7pm for a small koha (suggested $5) you will be entertained, inspired and stimulated by what The Tauranga Fringe Village 2019 has in store for you!

The Incubator team are still encouraging submissions for street performances, flash mob, jugglers, dark cabaret, puppeteers and buskers and stall holders. Here is your chance to shake off your inhibitions and let loose.
