Exhibition: BLOOD WATER EARTH – Louise Potiki Bryant & Santee Smith

June 22 - October 6

Blood Water Earth is an immersive video installation and ceramic display arising out of an international Indigenous collaboration between Kahnyen’kehàka artist Santee Smith (Artistic Director of Kaha:wi Dance Theatre) and Ngāi Tahu video/dance artist Louise Potiki Bryant.

Lewis Tamihana Gardiner (Te Arawa, Ngāti Awa, Whanau a Apanui, Ngāi Tahu) is a leading pounamu artist who is attracted to working with jade for its solidity, beauty and ancestral connection.

Mātiro (loving gaze) is the first survey of black and white photography by Tauranga-based Kapua Joy Bennett (Ngāti Ranginui, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui).

With their pioneering use of virtual reality, artists Jess Johnson and Simon Ward, have created a mysterious universe of alien architecture populated by humanoid clones and cryptic symbols, traversed via a network of travellators and gateways.

Festival of Architecture

The countdown is on for the annual Festival of Architecture, with a series of engaging, insightful and enjoyable events running from 20 – 26 September at venues throughout Tauranga. Co-ordinated by the New Zealand Institute of Architects, the Festival aims to celebrate and investigate the role of architecture in improving the quality of life in New Zealand’s towns and cities.

We have the Aotearoa DJ Academy heading back from their base camp in Wellington to teach up a storm to all you budding young producers and DJ's out there. Sneaky Bones (US / Folk) Jam Factory

Seattle's Sneaky Bones, the project of songwriter Matthew Bean, is returning to Aotearoa this spring to tour his third studio album Strangers I've Already Met, which dropped in May. Last here performing solo in early 2018, Bean's extensive national tour will this time showcase the folk recording artist with full band for all fourteen dates.
