Attention Tauranga! StarJam are searching for a singing tutor to join their team.
StarJam was created to provide opportunities for young people with disabilities to shine. They run weekly singing, dancing and drumming workshops, as well as other events for special needs youth: discos, end of year concerts, community gigs. The weekly workshops are based on acceptance and respect of everyone, focusing on acknowledging successes, improvements and triumphs however small, and regardless of whether they are performance based. StarJam’s workshops are about creating a joyful atmosphere through performance and friendship. Workshops are open to anyone with special needs between the ages of 6 and 25 years old. There are a maximum of twelve spaces available in each workshop.
StarJam are looking for a singing tutor to facilitate their Supreme Singers group. This role would suit someone with high energy, creativity, warmth and optimism. Ideally, you will have a musical/performance background. It would be a bonus if your abilities include songwriting and basic guitar playing. The tutor is responsible for planning each workshop, empowering the young people to achieve their goals and celebrating their many achievements. You will also be required to fill out a short workshop report at the end of each workshop. You will be supported by a workshop volunteer.
Hours Per Week: 2
Hourly rate: $41
The job will take place on Wednesdays between 6:15pm and 8:00pm in Mt Maunganui. The workshop itself is 1.5 hours, but extra time is allotted for planning/reporting.
