We all know it’s more important than ever to be supporting and shopping local this Christmas, and what better way to do that than by buying arts, crafts and experiences from local creatives and organisations? We’ve made it easy to #shoplocal in the Bay with our Creative Christmas Gift Guide. Know of a local craftsperson who isn’t on the list? Write in to rose@creativebop.org.nz and let us know!
Ceramics & Homewares
For the person who knows there’s no such thing as too many mugs!
Drop in to the Pop-Up Ceramic Gallery at 21 Devonport Rd featuring some of the most celebrated artists of our creative ceramic community, as well as emerging potters. Purchase a fresh piece of art, or book in for one of their workshops and make something yourself!
Local creative Chloe Grey makes wonderful vases, tumblers and jewellery (we’ve got our eye on some of these…) She’s planning a drop in December, so keep an eye on her Instagram.
Tom Hill of Oka Pottery‘s tumblers and mugs disappear FAST so you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on one of these – but it’s worth it. We love his reusable coffee cups – a step above your usual! You can contact Tom for commissions, too.
Bethlehem Pottery Club has a gallery attached to the studio where members showcase and sell their works. The gallery is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am – 2pm with a range of styles and sizes.
Looking for something truly unique? Look no further than Anya Fischer‘s handmade ceramics. We’re obsessed with the spiky sea creature shapes of Anya’s pieces. View her work on her Instagram – check out her highlights for available pieces!
