It’s time to get excited about the Christmas in the City installations, events and activities on offer this year, despite COVID-19 disruptions and restrictions.
Key features include The Strand Illuminations – a curated collection of world class light sculptures and installations from internationally acclaimed light artist, Angus Muir, the larger-than-life Christmas decorations, the Trustpower Hononga Exhibition and a host of Christmas events.
As Tauranga City Council Arts and Culture Manager James Wilson says, “The Christmas in the City project provides the perfect backdrop for residents and visitors to Tauranga to celebrate Christmas in our city centre. It’s exciting for Tauranga City Council to bring these striking installations to the city centre and to see them spark joy with the public as they interact with them.”
Mainstreet Downtown Tauranga Manager Millie Pidwell says of the Trustpower Hononga Exhibition: “As people we are connected through place, culture, relationships, experiences. This exhibition celebrates our people and their connection to all that matters.”
