“I want to make a safe environment for people who find it hard to express their emotions & feelings to have space and a method to help process them. I know for me, I can find it uncomfortable to express my feelings or emotions using words but through art it comes more easily.
During the first lockdown I was struggling to come to grips with my identity as just finding out I am wanted by Maori and I am deserving of being Maori. I felt I couldn’t talk to anyone about that because it was hard and triggering. So I went into the garage and just started painting… later when people saw and started engaging with my images I think I really got blown away by other random people connecting with something that was really personal to me. And then that’s what made me realise that everyone has their own stuff going on.”
