The New Zealand Music Commission are encouraging Aotearoa to ‘Level Up’ this TE MARAMA PUORO O AOTEAROA 2022 (NZ Music Month). This year’s ‘Level Up’ theme is about bringing into focus tomorrow’s stars, showcasing up-and-coming talent and success stories, and celebrating what emerging success means for the New Zealand artists.
In “bringing into focus” young talent in Tauranga, Tauranga Opera Forum is presenting a concert from its 2022 scholarship recipients, in 2021 they entered and won scholarships providing them up to a year of professional tuition.
The concert not only provides performance experience for these young singers it provides the public of Tauranga a further opportunity at an affordable price to hear and enjoy operatic music. Each year Tauranga Opera Forum offers scholarships for students from our local secondary schools with quality tuition and performance opportunities.
The May 29th concert at The Jam Factory is the first of our SUNDAY CONCERT SERIES and will have the four current scholarship recipients singing in the first half of the programme:
- Ansh Dhot
- Ella Chapman-Hodge
- Zoe Sherlock
- Mackenzie Wilson
The second half of the programme highlights our local celebrity singer Wendy Coster providing a range of operatic favourites including a duet with another local singing celebrity Jan Beets.
Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased at The HOUSE OF TRAVEL ( Cnr Willow and Wharf Streets) or BURETA PHARMACY in Bureta Rd. The concert at THE JAM FACTORY in the Historic Village , 17 Avenue starts at 3pm.
