Calling all choir directors, conductors, and music educators! Mount Maunganui choir All Together Now are looking for someone to take over the role of choir leader.
All Together Now is a mixed-voice, all-comers’ choir, part of a group of choirs which includes a group in Taupō and several choirs in Auckland. Part of the organisation’s ethos is that everybody can learn to sing, so the Choir Leader needs to be someone with good theoretical and practical musical knowledge, and some vocal expertise and experience. Preferably this would be choral experience but someone with good vocal technical knowledge who is interested in working with a choir would have an opportunity here to learn from some expert colleagues.
The commitment should only be for the rehearsal time each week (2 hours), plus the time it takes to prepare the music and communicate with the choir (one email a week). Lots of support and access to resources are available through belonging to the All Together Now group. So someone who is already experienced and skilled in this area should find they can run the choir very well with very little time input outside rehearsals; someone who needs to learn some specialist aspects will need to spend more time on preparation, but will be learning valuable skills at the same time.
The choir is a great group of singers who have been together for a few years but have now lost their founding Choir Leader as she is leaving the area. They are supportive and keen to learn more about singing, and to sing as well as possible.
The Tauranga All Together Now meets at Mount Bible Chapel, 2 Bedford Place, Mt Maunganui, on Wednesday evenings from 7:15pm – 9:15pm. The repertoire is all provided, and is very eclectic. The approach is relaxed and fun, but there is also a emphasis on quality music-making.
