Wilson Dixon is back for the 2023 Tauranga Arts Festival

The popularity of comedic cowboy Wilson Dixon – who has had sold-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Melbourne Comedy Festival and the 2019 Tauranga Arts Festival – has prompted an early release of tickets for his show at this year’s 10-day arts festival.

“Wilson was supposed to be with us at the 2021 festival,” Nikki Hansen, the festival’s general manager, says, “and tickets were selling very well when we had to cancel almost all the programme because the long Auckland lockdown had trapped performers. So, for everyone waiting to see this very funny man, as well as releasing tickets on July 17, we have put his October 26 show in Baycourt so hopefully no one misses out.”

Wilson Dixon has twice been honoured by the NZ International Comedy Festival, winning the Most Original and Supreme Awards. He claims to be the greatest country singer Cripple Creek, Colorado has ever produced – in fact, he is the only country singer Cripple Creek has ever produced, but doesn’t let that stand in the way of a wealth of funny stories and songs about his extended family and horse Andrew.

The festival, which takes place from October 19-29, has already released tickets for The Haka Party Incident on October 19 and 20.

Tickets for Wilson Dixon and The Haka Party Incident are available from the box office at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre or Ticketek.
