This esteemed awards ceremony aims to recognize the profound artistic talent rooted in Tauranga Moana. This year, we extend the invitation to our whānau and community to submit nominations. Visit the website to complete the nomination form.

Nominations for Ngā Tohu Toi are now open. We encourage our whānau and community to nominate individuals engaged in remarkable creative endeavours that whakapapa to Tauranga Moana.

Join us on June 27th, 2024, for an exceptional evening featuring refreshments and local entertainment. Let’s celebrate and honour Māori individuals shaping our regional identity, reaching beyond our borders, and in some cases, making an international impact.

Ngā Tohu Toi Mo Nga Uri Iwi o Te Rohe o Tauranga Moana is established by Te Tuhi Mareikura Trust, a collective dedicated to championing Māori arts and its ongoing influence on our regional identity.

Te Tuhi Mareikura, founded in 2015 by a small group of Māori artists, seeks to elevate the profile of iwi creatives and advance educational opportunities in Māori arts. According to Paama-Pengelly, Te Tuhi Mareikura Trust chairperson, “Our goal is to build strong, sustainable, and enduring relationships within the rohe of Tauranga Moana, ensuring the continuous advancement of ngā toi māori – Māori arts, the wider creative community, and art audiences.”
