If only there was a way a Saturday night boogie down the local could leave you feeling great the next morning… well, there is! Join Sustainable Backyards on Saturday 16 March for a benefit concert where 100% of your $20 ticket helps keep the Kaimai Ranges predator free! Sustainable Backyards have teamed up with Astrolabe Bar to bring you a stacked lineup of local bands, DJs and solo artists in support of Friends of the Blade.
Friends of the Blade are a volunteer run care group working hard to set up pest-free zones in the Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park. The abundance of wildlife present here, in particular the North Island Robin and Rifleman, is a direct reflection of their efforts. They maintain trap lines covering about 250 hectares of regenerating native bush surrounding the Pā Kererū loop walk at the end of Whakamārama Road, northwest of Tauranga.
Every $20 donation made via the link below will go directly to Friends of the Blade and can buy one trap that can be used to protect our native birds. It also scores you a wristband with 20% off food and drink from 4pm till close at the benefit gig! Thank you Astrolabe!
Sustainable Backyards are excited to be able to finally announce the line-up for you. First up is DJ duo Twenty2 & Peasoup bringing the early hip-hop, summer vibes to start the afternoon off right, followed by soulful Mount Maunganui solo artist Wheriko, then on to the Waihi based band, IZ Waddid IZ bringing the warm flavours of indie, reggae and rock. Finally, Laughton Kora from Kora and Black Comet fame! He is epic live; this is guaranteed to be an amazing gig full of wonderful people who care about our local manu and Ngāhere.
