The Q Awards were established in 2021 to help nurture the next generation of graphic designers. They recognise Year 13 graphic design students living in Tauranga, Western Bay district and Whakatāne across the categories of graphic design, moving image, photography, and architectural and product.
The most valued outcome of the Q Awards is the provision of internships for budding graphic designers. Experience in a design studio provides the recipients with a good understanding of what is required if they decide to pursue a career in design, whether through university or by entering the workforce. Q Award applicants go through a rigorous judging process at a commercial level, which results in high calibre students being accepted for internships.
If you are a design company that could provide minimum of 12 hours of actively monitored work experience, the Q Awards would like to hear from you. This could be two hours a week over a six-week period, or a more concentrated internship in the school holidays. Over and above this, the length of the internship would be at the agency’s discretion.
