Three new roles at Tauranga Art Gallery open now

As Tauranga Art Gallery prepares for the reopening next year, they are rolling out a number of exciting new opportunities to join the team:

Māori Arts Advisor / Kaitohutohu Toi Māori (part time)

Reporting to the Director, you would:

  • Implement the Māori engagement strategy
  • Work with the Director and team to develop and implement Tauranga Art Gallery’s specific tikanga.
  • Establish a Māori Cultural Expert Advisory Group
  • Review and contribute to Exhibition, Experience and Education programmes with a Te Ao Māori lens
  • Raise the Māori engagement capability of staff generally through professional training and development, updating of staff core competencies, and work force planning
  • Raise general competency in staff knowledge of the history of the land, iwi and hapū traditions, and pronounciation
  • Contribute proactively as a member of the Leadership Team on an aligned direction, build strong collaborative working relationships across department programming and operations.

Experience & Innovation Manager (full time)

Reporting to the Director, you would:

  • Lead the Front of House, Events and Education teams, providing strategic direction and leadership to staff, and once open to the public guidance for day-to-day operations
  • Lead the implementation of the Visitor Experience Strategy through the development  impactful and inspirational experience programmes in the areas of Education, Public Programmes and Events
  • Build manākitanga and a culture of exceptional front of house service
  • Curate and deliver a series of audience centric public programmes
  • Manage the team’s budget
  • Contribute proactively as a member of the Leadership Team on an aligned direction, build strong collaborative working relationships across department programming and operations.

Exhibitions & Collection Manager (full time)

Reporting to the Director, you would:

  • Oversee the planning, organisation and delivery of the Gallery’s exhibition programme and collection care workstreams
  • Design, plan and manage all technical aspects of the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions
  • Oversee building maintenance and Health & Safety at TAG
  • Manage the team’s budget
  • Contribute proactively as a member of the Leadership Team on an aligned direction, build strong collaborative working relationships across department programming and operations.
