Medical practice supports local artists with new exhibition

A recent collaboration has resulted in an exciting new exhibition of original art by Tauranga artists. On display at 5th Avenue Family Practice, the works include a selection of pieces by Christie Cramer, Debbie Tipuna, Jacqui van den Berg, Kaye Davis, Pam Lines, Tracy Stamatakos and Zoe Sizemore. The artworks are for sale and will be exhibited over the next six months.

The partnership came to fruition after Creative Bay of Plenty was approached by 5th Avenue Family Practice, who were keen to support local artists in their busy medical practice. Liz Cooper, a curator, writer and consultant to the creative sector, was engaged to undertake the initial assessment of the gallery space. She then handpicked the artists and curated the exhibition, engaging Duane Moyle Art Installation Services to hang the pieces.

Liz themed one corridor to be calming with views of sea and land mixed with gentle abstracts, and the other corridor with a botanical theme and a warm joyful palette. Liz said “The whole process was so positive and uplifting. Many thanks to 5th Avenue Family Practice for their enthusiastic support for our local talented artists.”

Debbie Irving, Practice Manager at 5th Avenue Family Practice, said “The artwork displayed at our practice is amazing. Liz has done an incredible job along, with Duane Moyle who hung the work. Thank you so much to Creative Bay of Plenty for you guidance and support in this project. The result is outstanding!”

“We were delighted to be involved in this project from the outset,” said Annie Hill of Creative Bay of Plenty. “We have supported the establishment of a number of other pop-up exhibitions in Tauranga previously to provide a platform for local artists to showcase their work.” If you have an opportunity you would like to discuss in your workplace, email annie@creativebop.org.nz.
