The inaugural Waitangi Day Art Competition is now open for entries, offering tamariki a chance to showcase their creativity as part of the Tauranga Moana Waitangi Day Festival 2025.
This competition provides children with an opportunity to reflect on their favourite activities or experiences from Waitangi Day through art. Their creations will be displayed for the community to enjoy during the festival, held at The Historic Village.
Entry details:
- Who can enter:
- Ages 0–4 years
- Ages 5–8 years
- Ages 9–12 years
- How to participate:
- Create an artwork on A4 paper inspired by Waitangi Day activities or experiences.
- Write your details (name, age, and contact information) on the back of the artwork.
- Deliver the completed artwork to The Incubator at The Historic Village.
- Submission deadline: All entries must be submitted by 10 January 2025.
The competition will culminate in an exhibition of all submitted artworks at The Incubator on Waitangi Day. Winners from each age category will be announced on stage during the festival and will receive goodie bags as prizes.
