The Incubator Creative Hub is about to blow the lid off 2025

The Incubator Creative Hub is about to blow the lid off 2025 in the city’s hottest Arts Village with an exciting art celebration on January 24th at 5:30 PM. This event marks the beginning of a series of monthly, multifaceted arts launches that play a vital role in Tauranga’s art event calendar.

The Incubator Creative Hub is poised to leap into the new year escalating the beloved Historic Village’s recognition as the city’s vibrant Arts Village.

This creative enclave will be aglow with the promise of fresh beginnings – eight of the sixteen spaces within the Incubator Creative Hub will be unveiling a thrilling mix of art exhibitions and new artists’ studios.

The Incubator Gallery rolls open its doors to welcome the extraordinary artist Jarom Gudgeon and his captivating exhibition, ‘Portraits in Deconstruction.’ A contemporary portrait artist hailing from Kirikiriroa/Hamilton, Jarom weaves together elements of pop culture, social media, and online imagery to create a strikingly unique artistic canvas.

The People’s Gallery – Toi ka rere, packs a powerful punch with Revealed-Stories in Light & Shadow,’ an evocative series of boudoir-themed photographs by photographer Donna Beck. This exquisite collection celebrates the empowerment of women and the art of storytelling through the lens of a camera.

Adding a dash of inter-city vibrancy, the Incubator’s Pothouse Exhibition Gallery welcomes the Rotorua Potters Group with ‘Fauna and Flora‘. This ceramic spectacle promises an enchanting exploration of nature’s diversity, illuminating the intricate ties between flora and fauna through the magic of clay.

The Imprint Gallery collective has conjured up another awe-inspiring exhibition ‘Small Mercies‘ for their miniature gallery space. Here, small-scale works by artist Janice Giles crafted with encaustic wax, purified beeswax, damar tree resin, and fire come to life in abstract landscapes and whimsical portraits.

Meanwhile, the eclectic studios of the Incubator, tucked away in various corners of the Village, serve as the creative playground for 30 artists, offering a treasure trove of serious working spaces and retail opportunities right at the studio doors.

Brook Street Studios, a hidden gem eagerly awaiting its moment in the spotlight, is thrilled to introduce a dynamic new artist collective. Mathew Johnson, Ash Standring, and Ila-Rose Hepetema are set to inject fresh talent and energy into the Brook Street scene.

Nestled within Brook Street, the Historic Whare Okorore Ngā Toi Māori will also celebrate its new resident Artist, Vik Ermes. Born in Germany and holding a Certificate in Māori and Indigenous Art, Vik is eager to further her artistic journey within the nurturing environment of Okorore and the wider Village creative whānau.

Katja Pott Art & Books, a charming addition to the Satellite Studios, will officially open its doors during the event. Originating from Hannover, Germany, Katja’s passions for art, books, music, travel, and motorcycles have culminated in the realization of her dream – a bookstore that promises to delight bookworms and lovers of cozy reading nooks.

The sustainability phenomenon Sarah Lancaster, AKA Sarah SewLove, is set to light up her new studio in the Creative Campus Social Fabric space. Sarah brings with her a contagious passion for the environment and a knack for creating fabulous products from reclaimed fabric.

The lively sounds of local icons Kokomo will fill the air, while other Village tenants and boutiques add to the vibrant atmosphere. This is a celebration of arts and community you won’t want to miss, complete with refreshments courtesy of our event partner, New World Gate Pa and licenced bar facilities.
