Calling Māori artists, leaders and organisations

Tēnei te tino tono kia koutou ngā manu whekoata o Aotearoa!

Inviting you to the Ngā Toi Māori Roadshow

As Māori artists, leaders and organisations who care about Ngā Toi Māori, we want to know what you think the future for Ngā Toi Māori should be.

We’re inviting you to contribute to the strategy work to articulate the bigger picture for Ngā Toi Māori in Aotearoa New Zealand, at a hui near you.

We’re holding 23 hui-a-rohe all around the motu, from the far north to the far south and across to the Chatham Islands.

As a result, we’ll develop a ‘by Māori for Aotearoa’ Creative New Zealand Māori Arts strategy.  We will form views and priorities for Māori arts development and work with our partners to ensure these priorities are progressed over the next few years.  It will also be a catalyst for a bigger discussion across Government about identity, value, culture and language; and an opportunity to inform local priorities.

At the hui there will also be information and updates regarding the role of Creative New Zealand and the funding and capability building opportunities available to new and established artists.

We have also invited our colleagues from across Government including Ministry for Culture and Heritage, Te Puni Kōkiri and Department of Internal Affairs as well as Community Trusts and arts sector organisations.

If you can’t attend one of the kanohi-ki-te-kanohi hui, an online survey and Facebook group will be available for you to contribute.

Where: The hui locations is: Whareroa Marae, 25 Taiaho Pl, Mount Maunganui
When: 16 March 2018
