Hi, I am Kelly O’Hara.

I’m a family and events photographer, based in beautiful Papamoa.

I want to share with you a little about myself and what I do.

I travelled into my profession as a photographer in the most unconventional way. I completed a BA (1997) in media and spent seven years working overseas doing business administration for multi-national businesses. In 2005, home was calling, so my builder husband and I decided to head back to New Zealand.

AUTHENTIC NATURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

The last decade has seen me refining my craft. My images are often described as full of colour, action and expression. Current clients have commented that I’ve made them feel instantly relaxed and have a keen eye for the unseen. This makes my heart sing!

Now that my three gorgeous and sporty sons are independent and the construction business my husband and I created is well established, it’s time for me to return to my true heart’s calling…photography!

THE FRONT STEPS PROJECT
I was involved in The Front Steps Project, a global social movement that nationally raised $NZD18,600.00 for Homes of Hope Tauranga, and $USD3.2million raised internationally for charities. I photographed families in isolation during COVID-19 on their front steps, in exchange for donations.
This has been an amazing effort that gave me the chance to be published in The Wall Street Journal in America, and locally in the Bay of Plenty Times and Papamoa Post.

THIS MINUTE – Part Time
I am the Media Co-Ordinator for a national youth empowerment charity. Specialising in a 40th anniversary publication.
