The Village Cinema is a unique destination cinematic venue facilitated by The Incubator, located at The Historic Village, Tauranga.

We develop and support low-cost, safe-space, accessible cinematic events to encourage and contribute to the involvement of people being valued, supported & respected within our community.

Through our networks within our local communities, advocacy support groups and organisations – neurodiverse and disability services, multi-cultural & migrant groups, LGBTQI+ community, low/no income advocacy groups, mental health support groups, elderly care/dementia support services, family support services, tertiary institutes and independent filmmakers and organisations, we assist community members with creating their own event in our art deco inspired 60 seat cinema, or participating as an audience member.

Past events we have supported and facilitated include tertiary and children film festivals, Matariki Cinematic Showcases with guest speakers, documentary screenings and short films, multicultural film clubs, relaxed film screenings for our disabled and neurodiverse communities, film development workshops, monthly opera screenings, artist & film director speaker talks, environmental documentary screenings, school holiday programmes, LGBTQI+ film nights and so much more!
