The Incubator Creative Hub and Tauranga City Council present Old is the new Black – Through the Lens.
This outdoor photography exhibition will be on display along Tauranga’s waterfront promenade – The Strand, during the weeklong Young at Heart Festival and global acknowledgement of older people.
This exhibition showcases selected finalists and winners of ‘Old is the New Black -Through the Lens’ community photography competition. The Incubator team drew on the idiom to describe something ‘Popular and Fashionable’ and wanted our community to change the way that our older people are stereotyped by kicking ageism to the kerb creatively!
With over 100 entries our judges had the hard job of choosing 20 images that depict our seniors in this way, in ways that celebrate our groovy older people with vibrancy, energy and visability. The standard was so high.
The exhibition will be on show following our prize giving, from 1 – 20th October 2024.
We thank our sponsors Kale Print and The Acorn Foundation and our hard working judges, Councillor Rod Taylor, Tessa Lawrence of Kale Print and Tracy Stamatakos Photographer.
Congratulations to all the selected finalists and the winners and thank you to all the photographers out there who had a go and enthusiastically used your creativity to show our wonderful older people in this fresh light!
