Aotearoa New Zealand music icon Ladi6 is making her way to Totara St. on Friday 29 November 2024, as part of her highly anticipated Alofa: The Heartbeat Tour. This tour celebrates the release of her new single, Alofa, which dropped on 7 November, Ladi6’s birthday. Known for her genre-defying sound and deeply personal lyrics, Ladi6 promises an evening of soul-stirring beats and unparalleled artistry, accompanied by two local acts, DJ Ayesha and WILDLANES.
Ladi6 has been a pillar of Aotearoa New Zealand’s music scene, blending hip-hop, soul, and electronica to create tracks that are both innovative and authentic. Her latest single, Alofa, is a testament to her evolution as an artist. The song pairs Kraftwerk-inspired breakbeat electronica with dreamy synths and soulful vibrations, reflecting themes of self-love and resilience in the face of heartbreak. Her résumé includes playing at festivals like Soundsplash, Raglan, and the iconic Glastonbury Festival in the UK. Known for her ability to read the crowd and create a seamless musical journey, Ayesha will energise the audience and prepare them for a night to remember.
WILDLANES
The evening will also feature WILDLANES, the musical project of singer-songwriter Laney Van Jaarsveld. Hailing from Tairua and now based in Mt Maunganui, WILDLANES delivers music that is as vulnerable as it is empowering. Her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have captivated audiences across Aotearoa New Zealand, from bar corners to major stages, including Soundsplash 2023 and Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.
Drawing on her personal journey of growth and self-love, WILDLANES weaves stories that resonate deeply. Her debut EP, supported by NZ On Air, showcases her collaboration with industry heavyweights and highlights her evolution as an artist.
