Baycourt’s legendary ‘Mighty Wurli’ will take centre stage for an extraordinary concert where the worlds of music and cinema collide.
‘Silver Screens & Serenades’ unites the exceptional talents of New Zealand’s premiere concert organist, Dr. Christopher Hainsworth, and the electrifying voice of internationally celebrated French opera singer André Heyboer.
Prepare to be enchanted as Hainsworth weaves his magic, performing improvised scores to three cinematic masterpieces on Baycourt’s nearly 100-year-old Wurlitzer theatre organ: ‘The Pawn Shop’ by Charlie Chaplin, ‘Fiddlesticks’ starring Harry Langdon, and ‘The Balloonatic’ by Buster Keaton.
Between films, Heyboer’s rich and powerful baritone voice will enthral the audience as he performs captivating interludes of operatic arias, showcasing beloved masterpieces and rarely performed pieces, all accompanied by Hainsworth on the Wurli.
‘Silver Screens & Serenades’ is a rare chance to not only experience three cinematic gems presented as they were originally intended, but to also witness two artists of the highest calibre performing live on stage at Baycourt.
