An unforgettable evening of storytelling from the coldest place on Earth. The New Zealand Antarctic Society is proud to invite you to a presentation by Peter Otway and a curated selection of captivating short films from the heart of Antarctica.
The films blend stunning documentary footage, curated by award winning filmmaker Anthony Powell, that reveals the continent’s stark beauty, unforgiving conditions, climate change, and penguin antics with stories captured by inventive and funny entries from the Winter International Film Festival of Antarctica’s 48-Hour Challenge, an annual showcase of creativity and resilience from those who winter-over on the Ice.
Before the films, hear from Peter Otway, speaking on “Dogsledding on long survey missions.” Peter will share what it took to travel and work across Antarctica by dog team on extended survey journeys — the rhythm of life on the trail, the teamwork between people and dogs, and the realities of covering vast distances in some of the toughest conditions on Earth.
