GRAP2015 Creative Garment Recycling â Upcycle and transform
This hands-on course explores creative garment recycling through upcycling and transformation. Students learn to deconstruct clothing, experiment with fabric manipulation, and redesign garments into unique wearable pieces using handcraft and industrial sewing techniques. The course emphasizes sustainability, creativity, workroom safety, industry terminology, and the use and maintenance of industrial sewing equipment.
Note: This course requires students to supply their own discarded clothing, preloved fabric, or trims.

Design and Make a Custom Kimono Style Jacket
In this hands-on course, students design and create a custom kimono-style jacket using repurposed garments or fabric offcuts. Through patchworking , colour coordination and handcraft, participants transform discarded textiles into a unique wearable piece. Students also gain experience using industrial sewing machines while learning construction and pattern terminology, industry techniques, and basic machine maintenance.
Note: This course requires students to supply their own discarded clothing, preloved fabric, or fabric offcuts.
