Anthony Ritchie Fanfare Kotahitanga
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 17 – excerpts
Jessie Montgomery Strum
Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92 – excerpts
Join us for a free relaxed concert with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, designed for neurodivergent audiences. This concert features your national orchestra performing exciting works by Anthony Richie (NZ), Tchaikovsky, Jessie Montgomery, and Beethoven in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
The performance, hosted by NZSO Animateur Chris Lam Sam, also includes a short Q&A with NZSO musicians in the middle of the concert. This performance will be followed with a meet and greet with some of the NZSO musicians.
This daytime concert may also appeal to those who prefer attending events during daylight hours with easier access to public transport and a quieter atmosphere.
Relaxed concerts are designed specifically for people from the neurodivergent, autism and disability communities. They have a relaxed attitude to noise and movement during the performance, minimal lighting effects, a ‘chill-out’ space and where possible, we ask that traditional applause from the audience is replaced by silent NZ Sign Language applause.
A printable PDF guide will be prepared for each performance with descriptions of what to expect at the concert to help you and your whānau to prepare.
While every effort has been made to ensure these events are supportive of sensory needs, there are factors outside of our control, such as numbers of participants, and audience noise levels.
