Wild City Trail

Calling all explorers!
Are you ready for an adventure?
Nine local animals are hiding around Grey Street and they’re waiting for you to find them all! Grab a pencil, print the activity sheet and set off on a fun family trail through the city centre.
Can you spot a fluttering piwakawaka (fantail) or maybe a tiny pāpā (gecko) hiding nearby? Keep searching for all nine creatures:
Pāpā (gecko)
Pūtangitangi (paradise shelduck)
Pepe (pūriri moth)
Piwakawaka (fantail)
Kārearea (NZ falcon)
Katipō spider
Tāmure (snapper) Tipa (scallop)
Pāpaka (estuary crab)
Look carefully on both sides of Grey Street, including the city centre car park buildings.
Check the seats, planters and shop windows – you never know where an animal might be hiding! Did you know every animal on the trail can be found in the wild around Tauranga?
Once you’ve finished the trail, see if you can spot them again in nature.
