Light Art, Projection Mapping & Digital Storytelling

A Creative Development Session with Rob Appierdo of Storybox

Wednesday 9 September  at 1:00 pm / Trinity Wharf Hotel, Tauranga

What would it take to establish a festival of light art in Tauranga? How are other cities using digital tools like projection mapping and augmented reality to tell stories and create wonder in civic spaces?

Creative Bay of Plenty and Downtown Tauranga are calling local creative people, arts organisations, and civic leaders to a free information session with Rob Appierdo, founder and creative director of Wellington-based Storybox. Learn about some of his pioneering work with digital public artlight and technology, the water screen project Mana Moana, and the recent projection mapping of Te Papa. Help us begin a dialogue about art, technology, and community storytelling—and what might be possible for the Bay of Plenty.

The presentation will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about digital public art trends, and find out how you could get involved with future projects in our community. What would a Bay of Plenty Light Art Festival look like? How would a 2021 light art project benefit our own creative people? What ideas, stories, and content would you bring to the experience? Join us, meet Rob, and Storybox, and let’s talk!

Please complete this form to reserve a place on Wednesday 9 September at 1pm.
