The Remaker Space and Envirohub present the Sustainable Wearable Art Challenge! Time to combine your powers of style and sustainability…
Envirohub’s Sustainable Art Challenge aims to raise awareness of environmental issues through the medium of art. This year, they’re offering a slightly different model. The kaupapa of the challenge is the same, but the format and brief have been revamped. You’ll still have the chance to rock your arty fashion down the runway while your friends and families applaud you on at the runway show and prizegiving on Friday 4 December, 3:30-6:30pm at The ReMaker Space.
Wearable Art Entries are open to: teams or individuals.
Team: This must consist of 1 child under 15 years old
Individual: Must be 16+ years
The challenge runs from now until 3pm, 2 December 2020.
You must complete the
online registration form and pay your $10 fee. You will then be contacted about a time to pick up your resource pack. Entrants and general public will be invited to attend the Sustainable Wearable Art Challenge Awards ceremony on the 4th of December from 3:30pm – 6:30pm, to view the entries on the runway. You must supply a model for the runway show; this could be yourself or a friend. All entries will be exhibited at The Remaker Space for two weeks after the runway show. Sustainable Art challenge Brief
Create a wearable art masterpiece from the pack of materials provided by The ReMaker Space and Envirohub. You MUST use at least 75% of this pack. You can also use “found” materials such as items that were otherwise considered trash or you bought from an op shop. Think about the impact you are making with the materials you find. Taking seashells from the beach is removing a natural item from the environment which could have been a hermit crab’s home. However, if you found a bottle cap, this is removing a bit of rubbish from the environment while also diverting it from landfill. What are you going to use to hold your garment together with? Using new cable ties or large quantities of cello tape can be more harmful to the environment as you are creating more waste. Read the full list of guidelines and find the entry form over on
