Celebrate New Year’s Eve with whānau and friends at Gordon Spratt Reserve, Pāpāmoa!
Come and enjoy live music, roving entertainment, delicious food trucks, fun activities for the kids, and a local MC to host. This event is one of Tauranga City Council’s five free New Year’s Eve community celebrations.
New location:
For those who have attended in the past, please note that we have a new location within Gordon Spratt Reserve this year. The event will be held next to Pāpāmoa College, near the Tsunami Vertical Evacuation Structure, due to maintenance work at our usual site (which will be fenced off). Please follow the clearly marked signs to the new site – just 350m away!
Time:
The event starts at 6pm and will finish with fireworks at 9.30pm.
Things to bring:
– A picnic blanket and/or something to sit on
– Feel free to bring your own kai or there will be a limited number of food trucks, you can also explore the fantastic eateries nearby
– With the sun still strong in the afternoon, remember to slip, slop, slap, and wrap
– For those with sensory sensitivities, bring headphones to limit sound
– Cash or card to purchase drinks and snacks
Getting there:
Parking may be limited, so consider ride-sharing, walking, biking, or even dancing your way to the celebration! Bayhopper buses will run as usual throughout New Year’s Eve, and parking in the city centre is free from 5pm to 6am on weekdays, as well as free on public holidays.
Important:
– These family-friendly events are alcohol and smoke-free, with temporary and permanent liquor bans in place at and around the site
– For more details on this event and the other community celebrations, visit the Tauranga City Council New Year’s Eve webpage
– Please note: A photographer or videographer commissioned by Tauranga City Council may be present at this event
